I'm a relative newcomer to the Russian internet dating scene. Although I have been interested and searching for many months, I still feel quite clueless. I have used only one service, Anastasia, and although I like the site, it gets costly as I pay for each email I send. I'm wondering what other avenues are open to me. I am sincere in my search for a life partner, and have recently paid for the book "How to marry a woman like me". (don't know if it was the best thing to purchase, but it seems to be good info) Any advice? Thanks, gwarren

You will find plenty of advice from guys around here, but let me give you one piece to get the ball rolling, get away from AnastasiaWeb (the US one) before they take you for tons of money. See Here Just do a google search on them for fraud etc you will see what I mean.

Try a good one like Elenas Models you can communicate directly with the ladies, no third parties to go through, or a number of others that we can recommend if you want any.

Questions for you, You have been using Anastasia's service is there 1 or 2 particular women that you are really interested on their site?
There are 100's of options where it aren't as expensive. Search through the web and BEFORE you look at the women on the site, read the fine print as to the agency costs.

On a side note you do realize that a Very Long Distance Relationship (VLDR) is by no means inexpensive. It shouldn't cost too much to do the introduction, but when you start visiting then the costs start running up.

There is also a free service within this website, forget the address. There is also a www.freepersonals.ru address. It is free, sort of, read fine print.

Thanks for the advice so far. I have taken time to investigate Anastasia, and it seems that though they are fraudulent in writing for some of their girls, I have read others' who have had better results with them. I did however also join with Elena's models and perhaps will decide to use them instead. I will say that I had previously written one girl from Anastasia, and we corresponded by mail, so that one seemed real enough to me, though I broke it off in the end as it didn't really seem a good match. All in all, I'm glad to have a more balanced perspective on Anastasia, and will continue taking a hard look at them before I decide whether to continue, and if I do, it will be with great care. It is to my eternal embarassment that, I went out to Ukraine to meet a girl who had never actually written to me. She was gorgeous and I was carried away by my ego. Her letters sounded so real and all my questions were responded to.

you should first read a lot about agencies, the business, pro & con's...after all you're buying a service and don't want to end in some "used car salesman" situation.

You will realize that many big (and not so big) agencies are just the Nth re-edition of same-old same-old databases, with the main difference being the "household term" or trademark.

Yes they are both good ones, you should be Ok with either of them, both work in a similar way.

One recommendation I have for using the sites which sell addresses is as Vic says, write a letter.
Anyone can write an email and I am sure some of these ladies get loads of emails, but getting a letter is still "special" and shows an extra level of interest and commitment and that you are serious.

I did this and though the letter took a month to arrive, things are looking good but I will know better in a month or so.

You picked up on the dis-advantage of buying an address. You dont know if you will get an email as well. If you dont, the initial process is a bit tortuous. But as I said to Meta on another thread today, you stand out from the crowd, if you go direct and bypass the agency.

I had a 100% success rate. I even got a reply from a lady in Vladivostok who wanted to stay there (and this one was refunded even though I mis-read her letter.).

I have been reading everything about Anastasia web, and just want to add a couple words. I haven't had any problems from this sight. I have talked to a couple woman and still am talking to one woman. In my second letter to her I asked for her mailing address( and she sent it), after the fourth letter I called her and talked to her and also at this time received her phone number.(a total cost of maybe $50.00) Now I call her once or twice a week and have had flowers sent to her( not by Anastasia) and she loved them. I no longer use the sight to talk to her. It is true that you get many letters from woman but every one that I talked to I received their address and phone numbers and had no problems. I just have a hard time thinking that this woman I am talking to is not real!! I do plain to visit her next month, so I guess I'll find out for sure. But the way I look at it. I know I will have a great time with or with out her. But I hope with!!!! I'll also add that the first and only woman I talked to from Elena's Models was a scammer. But I'm sure it was just bad luck on my part. Good luck to all!
