Visa Rights And Duties

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: GoingToRussia

My GF asked me about her rights and duties if she obtained a Visa and entered the US. I know about the 90 day marriage thing, applying for permanent residence, and a work permit. I think she is more interested in what my obligations are to her. I remember seeing a form that lists my assets and saying I would support her while she is in America.

Any websites or information would be appreciated.

Thanks,
GTR

When I post here, it is almost the same post each time, over and over:
Read the guidelines for the various visas from beginning to end BEFORE you commit to applying for a visa. If you did that, you could answer your "GF's" questions. i.e. you are committing to supporting her financially until she reaches 40 quarters of work, which theoretically can take 10 years but in reality only takes 10 years if you work full time the whole time.
Please read :
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/i...tom&page=guides

these are guides for visas, read it and commit it to memory!

myshka,

I think you did not understand my question. I'm not talking about 10 years, I'm talking about the 90 days of the visa. I understand I must sign a form and deposit money for her, but what else. There isn't very much on the web about this subject.

Your link doesn't work.

GTR, You must marry in 90 days, and then you will file for an change of adjustment status. form I 485. Also remember that the K1 visa, fiancee visa is only a single entry visa, she will not be able to leave the US (even to Canada) for any reason with out completeing the advance parole form I-170 (I believe) and you can only complete this after the adjustment status.

you will complete the affidavit of support, which as you said states she will not become a charge on the economy.

there is really nothing else.....That easy!

her only obligation is, she has to marry you... no one else to be able to stay in the US on her K1 Visa :-)

Okay, thanks waiting. I knew all of that but it seems like there should be more.

Going to Russia, thank you a lot of for nice complements about me in other topic: "Yes Ms. Smarty Pants is a Russian woman so her instincts are usually right. On another note, there is no Mr. Smarty Pants!!!"

GTR, please, could you read "between lines" in questions of your GF.Your GF is smart woman. She has internet access, good computer skills. So, she can get all official information and other information from internet without your help.
GTR, you are MAN, SPECIAL MAN FOR YOUR WOMAN! She needs to know YOUR opinion, your personal thoughts! Hmmm Why men cant understand women?!
Please, could you write your woman that you will take care about her after arriving, you will love her all long life, she doesnt need to work in a couple hours after her arriving, she will not starve there near you. May be she has some typical woman "fears". New country, new life, no perfect language.
Best wishes for you and your woman!

I think we should all stop asking each other questions and just go straight to Ms S P. It would cut out a lot of wasted time and effort for the rest of us!! She always has the right answers!!

What Ms S P doesn't understand though, is none of us actually understand women at all, even less so, Russian women!!

Yes I always trust what Ms. SP says. She, like all Russian women, has a way of expressing herself that is charming and unique.

Ms. SP, my GF knows she doesn't have to work and she will not starve. She wants to work right away. Her heart is set on it. I answered all her questions today and she is satisfied with them. Her biggest problem is leaving her son behind. She doesn't know if she can do it. I told her to stay in Sochi and I will wait for her or move to Russia in 4 years after I retire. So I will be doing a lot of traveling to Russia these next few years. I'll let you know if I travel to Samara. I would like to so I could look up some ancestors.

A question that has been asked through the ages, and will be asked till the end of the earth.

If ANY man had that answer they would be wealthy beyond their wildest dreams, because they would sell that information to all the other men.
