According to a report from a Russian newspaper, gas giant Gazprom is placing increasing pressure on Belarus to adopt a European-level pricing system for its imported gas from 2007.

If Putin does not vye to become CHAIRMAN of the Board of Directors at Gazprom (after his presidential career concludes)... HE'S CRAZY! Shrewd guy!

Gotta say this is no surprise. If Ukraine (and the rest of the CIS) thinks Russia is just going to let, what, 3 trillion cubic feet of natural gas disappear... they are dreaming. Others may disagree, but I am siding with Putin in all this. You can't keep milking the Russian treasury over there.
