To start with I would like to say great forum guys, very usefull info, with great guys and gals on board.

A quick question, I'll be travelling to St.P. shortly and wanted to know what kind of pocket money I should carry other than the hotel bill for a trip of 10 days.

I also wanted to know what the regulations are for carrying foreign currency (US$), I read somewhere that there was a limit of 1500$ and that on exit it had to accounted for. So receipts are required for any money changed, is that true?

I only carried a couple of hundred with me and used the ATM machines to get cash. I can't imagine carrying a bunch of money.

Ahhh, the darker side of Moscow. I personally know two people who were mugged in Moscow, but they will never post about it anywhere because they are too embarrassed.

Don't carry large sums of money on you. AND DON'T LOOK AND ACT LIKE A TOURIST! And you'll be fine.

Thanks for the advice guys, I was once pickpocketed on a bus in Rome but managed to get my money back (amazing how intimidating a small guy like me can can look when I'm pissed off).

What I really meant to ask is how much do general expenses like meals, transport etc. run up per day.

Oh by the way there is no way for me to blend in I'm of Indian origin (Asian), so no matter what I try I will stick out like a sore thumb.
