Ironically, I happened to be at the local Safeway store, and happened to see that the sign said the Western Union was out of order. So, maybe a temporary system outage? Or maybe because the lotto/video rental/film developing/cigarettes counter closed before I got there. At least I know I can do it at our Safeway, when the system is up. But, just curious, how much, percentage or flat fee. I presume you use the "Quick Collect" function, as opposed to "Direct to Bank"(which I presume is a US/Mexican thing). Anyone know the specifics on Western Union? |

If you are already engaged or married to the lady, just open up a guest account for an ATM card through your bank or credit union. Get her the card, then you can just deposit funds in the guest account that she can access from any ATM machine in Ukraine or Russia, or wherever. I did this and each withdrawal my finacee made only cost me 1 dollar. Even my own CU did not charge for the withdrawals.
