Hi

Russia pull another 2nf palce in the eurosong contest. It is a grat song and was performed very nicely.
However they could'nt beat the finish 'monsters'. Personally I would rather listen to the russian 100 times before listen to the finish.

anyway a great result, and Russia did get maximum from 2 Baltic countries. (and Belarus and Ukraine)

What was the Russian song/singer? Who took first place? Who represented Ukraine?

So many questions

Here you are Jill.

Russian Song: Never Let You Go
Singer: Dima Bilan

First Place was Finland, a group called Lordi, a weird Heavy Rock group.

Ukraine Song: Show Me Your Love
Singer: Tina Karol

The final phase of the contest, the semifinal had taken place on Thursday, was held with the participation of 24 countries and was watched by over 100 million television viewers.

In generel, neigbors give each other points.

Like Bosnia and Russia. In another thread I want to discussion how they vote. I am a strong of beliver that sms and phone vote is not a good way to cast votes. Its simple not representative.
Another issue there could be interesting fo find out, is how migration has an impact of the votes. A good example good be Armenia, which got max in France. Even its was ok, I believe the the large armenian population there has an influence. Same with Turkey, the baltics, Bosnia and is some extend Russia and Ukrainia.

My own we don't figure. Is the winner from Finland and *we are the winners* from Lithuania and finally the Bosnian. And we don't understand why malta get so low score.

anyway, it will be interesting i Helsinki and hopefully soon Russia will win. They have close so long time.

I thought that out of the few I saw, the Armenian was quite good, better than the Finland performance. This year saw another poor entry from the English, that was never a song that was going to be a euro winner, in my opinion.

That's pretty good that Armenia placed so well--I actually can't even remember them making the finals before (well, I know they boycotted when it was held in Istanbul, and last year I think they got cut in the semi-finals). Well, good for them Maybe in a few years we'll see Eurovision in Yerevan

I love the Eurovision, of course Ireland are the Kings and queens of it (but not any more)

Its impossible not to notice the neighbours voting for each other, but it still didnt stop the best song from winning. Did anyone notice Spain and Portugal we the only neighbours not to vote for each other!!!

Can you belive the Irish gave 12 points to the worst song "We are the winners" but it had to be all our drunks voting after that guy did that crazy dance....... unreal

The Russian song was typical russian Pop, but a bit dreary, my money was on Romania.

I heard that the after Show programme was full of bitterness.

Yes they must have been Drunk. His Dancing was wild! lol

Did u not give the UK 12 points, you usually do! And we give you 12 in return!

I didn't watch it year, can u belive I missed it - it's on telly for like 8 hours striaght....

Anyway, how was Wogan this year? Or is Tel UK only nowadays?

I only watched it for Tel's witty comments in the past.

hehehe, errrrrr an aged rapper just didnt cut it this year for us, we had to give it to crazy bald dude for that (fit of) dancing.

@ home here we always watch the BBC broadcast for El tel, he is not as good as before, but then again the hosts have been a lot better lately.

Isnt he Irish?

because its 1st time Armenia participated. So it was a good debut.

Our (me and the wife) like:

Russia 12 pts
Romania 10 pts. Malta
Sweden 8-9.

Ireland was a nice quite song to 5-6 pts.
Ukraine was ok pop to 6-7 pts. Same for Greece.

Lithunia was a little strange, maybe 1 pts.

We did'nt like France, space, Bosnia, Turkey and Moldova.

I get really wound up with Eurovision really cos if we got Radiohead or Kate Bush or any UK band ever who's any good really we'd win it every year!

Let's look:

UK: Huge list far too long
Ireland: U2. Pogues don't count even Shane Macgowan is English!
Sweden: ABBA
Denmark: Carlsberg. Oh, sorry, thats a beer...
Armenia: Charles Aznovoice?
France: Nichego
Germany: Ramstien?
Italy: Sabrina - most excellent norks!

Having said that, Splin would win it for Russia.....
