Hello Everyone....

I thought that is is important to speak about the difficulties and even disadvantages of being in a Russian-Western relationship.

Many people often speak about the benefits and positive aspects of Russia-Western relationships and being married to a Russian spouse. But, I think that it is important to have a balanced perspective and expectation of Russian-Western relationships...

I am going to develop a list of challenges, difficulties and disadvantages, and will post them here...

Here are some brief and basic thoughts that I have as to the difficulties and challenges of a Russian-Western relationship or marriage:

1) The visa, immigration and courting process is expensive.

2) There are often challenges associated with two people having been raised in different countries and cultures

3) It is difficult to truly get to know someone over a long-distance

4) Because we don't have a full picture of who a person is when we haven't spent time with them in person, we tend to fill in what we do not know with an idealized perception, or with what we want to believe is true.

5) No marriage is perfect, and no Russian woman (or Western man) is perfect.

6) Marriage takes work and is challenging and takes effort, even with a Russian woman
