Does it take your woman long to go through customs, when she first arrives

When Rima arrives to the United States,I just want to have an idea of how long I will have to wait for her going through customs.

Custom's is where they check your baggage for items you are importing to the country. Before that, a person passes through Immigration Control (aka Passport Control). This is where everyone stands in line to show their passport.

At JFK two years ago, after Passport Control, they then send us off to the POE (Port Of Entry) to process my (now) wife and son's visas. This took about an additional 90 minutes of time (mostly waiting).

We arrived together at JFK the day before Thanksgiving last year. When I entered at JFK earlier last year, I asked if I could take my fiance through the US Citizens line. At JFK, the line for visa holders is often *long*. The passport guy said, if she's your fiance, you can take her anywhere you want.

So, we went through the citizens line. The computers had a glitsch reading her K1 data. Once we got through passport control, we had another step to go through that involved getting her visa stamped with work authorization, which happens automatically at JFK but not at all Ports of Entry.

We got our bags and were through customs in about 80 minutes. The process took maybe 30-45 minutes longer than for me to enter alone.

In Copenhagen I will say, from airplane lands to get luggage and show passport. About 20-30 minuttes. 40 if you are unlucky.

On a first time entry you will NOT just breeze through. You should plan on 1 1/2 to 2 hours.

We breezed through in an hour...30 minutes of our wait was while the immigration people were at lunch maybe??? I will confess it was a slow day as we arrived on the 4th of July and only had 1 person in front of us! My wife went through the citizens line with me.

JFK about 1 hour. I tool my g/f (now wife) to try the citizens line, the guy said you are in the wrong line but she smiled and said pleeese.... and he processed her. Also got work authorization stamp.
