OMG Randy!!
Do you mean you don't know how to sms at all or just how to sms her?
If you mean at all, just take your phone down to the nearest mobile phone shop and they will gladly show you how to drive it.
If you mean her, then as I found yesterday, you just write your message and send it to her number, dropping the first zero and if for example it is in Russia, adding 7.
eg.
Russian international mobile number; 7927364####

Obviously I blanked out the last 4 digits but you get the drift...
Hope this helps,
Sam.

That leaves 9999 remaining possibilities!!!!!

Type your message and for the "recipient" enter her phone number.

For example, lets assume someone in Moscow has the number (495) 123-4567. You would use (Russia's county code is 7):

+74951234567 (that would be "+" plus "country code (7)" plus "city code (495)" plus the phone number).

Hey mate, you can send sms via computer. I know of two sites but they are restricted to Oz and the UK. If you google you might find one that is international. The two I know of are free but as I said, limited to where you can send. Try a search with "free sms" and see how you go...
Sam.

Oh and for those who are interested, the sites here (aust) are smspup.com and freesmsmate.com.au

Having just installed Skype on my laptop I was looking through it and from memory, the laptop had a problem the next day and I lost everything so I haven't had another look, you can SMS via Skype, it may be worth checking out.

LOL!
Oh it will help my shares if you can send two or three page messages because it costs you more...
Is that ok?

Randy

Just by a very cheap pre-paid or pay as you go mobile, put $10 on it and you can start sending right away. Dead easy, or visit the links I gave you above and send for free from those, but remember she will not be able to reply if you use a computer and if you use your sisters and she wants to reply your sister will get the message.

Hey Chris, thanks for the links.I guess the big problem is that I do not understand them or what to do.Do I need to know her provider or find my provider in the list? And everything else to me is......

She will be back from holidays on May 8th,then I can just call and talk to her.

Maybe I will take another crack at it tonight.

Randy

No Randy

You should not need to know her provider, I send and receive SMS to/from Ukraine all the time, it does not matter who they or you are with, just put in he mesage and her phone number and send. Costs me 20p per message from the UK to Ukraine.

If I was sending from the computer I would just type the message and the phone number and click send, but not all free computer sms programmes will allow you to send internationally.

Try one from your sisters first, it takes seconds and costs very little.

Ok guys,my friends mobile's number dose not contain the Russian country code 7....it begins with an 8?
Also would I have to put in the 011 for over seas call when sending a SMS,
I have to put in the 011 when calling her regular phone...
011-7-8443xxxxxx,this is how I would dial her home phone.

Thanks
Randy

Hi Randy,

I think the 8 is used internally within Russia. You will have to substitute the 8 with a 7.

As was said before, there are services to send messages.

My fiance's service provider has a web page for doing that and it seems that they allow you to send messages to those who don't use their service.

For example, there is a pull down menu of area codes and it list the various services using those area codes.

You can find the page here: http://beonline.ru/portal/english/eng_sendsms

Thanks searcher,I tried some free sites,I will not know if she got any or not until she gets back from her holidays.I will let yous know if it worked or not.

Thanks for everyones help,

Randy

Randy, phone numbers in Russia have to have 10 figures after the code of Russia. For all kinds of phone numbers, for land lines, for mobiles also.

+ 7 AAAAAAAAAA (for federal mobiles)
+ 7 (AAA) - code of russian city AAA AA AA (number of land line )

Posted by: mistermopar

Hi Ms.Smarty Pants, yes I know that there has to be ten figures after the code of Russia.
The number that my friend gave me for her mobile had a code 8,not a 7.Maybe she made a mistake when sending me her number.

In Canada I have to put the numbers 011 for a land line, before the code 7 and then the ten figures.O11 meens it is a over sea's call,I was not sure if I had to put it for a SMS or a mobile phone.

Thanks
Randy

Sure, your friend forgot you are from Canada. May be your friend doesnt know about "10 figures". Dont think a lot of about this. Not all russians know these phone rules.

Inside Russia, mobile numbers start with an 8 but you must change this to a 7 if calling externally, including a call from a non Russian mobile used in Russia.
