wedding rings?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello,
Am I right in thinking that Russian women wear the wedding ring on the right hand, finger next to the little finger if that makes sense! Do they ever wear a ring on this finger if not married at all??

Thanks

Paul

Posted by: AkMike

That is how wedding rings are worn. I've never seen any other rings on that finger.

However... When we got married I insisted that she wear the rings on her left hand. Tanya was worried that it would cause a problem. The Mistress of Ceremony didn't have a problem with the break in tradition.

I feared as much, I'm talking with a girl at the minute and she has sent me 2 pictures, on both you can see what appears to be a wedding ring on her finger!! Surely a scammer would not be so stupid?? I suppose I better ask her the question!!

Paul

Ask her.. Was she married before?? Don't toss out that scammer label too soon, it might be as simple as a reversed image..

No you would think not, however, she may be widowed or divorced and still wear the ring? I have seen some women that still wear their old wedding rings.

When widowed or divorced, Russians generally wear the ring on their left hands (not right) if they continue to wear their wedding ring. So that is rather unlikely (unless it's an old picture).

But it might just be a ring. Ask her.

Speaking of wedding rings guys can someone point me in the right direction of the Russian wedding ring that has the star, Heart and half moon Nats mentioned it a couple of times but can not find any info of it anywhere.

This question is the question of man!
Paul, what kind of ring did you see on her finger?
Wedding ring or decorated ring?
Gold ring or silver ring? May be valuable stones ring?
Women like wear rings for decoration.

Hi all ,thanks for the replies, she says it is a ring her mother gave her so she likes to wear it, she assured me I need not worry.!

However, she also told me she has no mobile phone, and then sent a picture with her holding one in the picture!!

Then I found the exact bulk of text from her latest letter, in a letter from someone with a different name and city on a scammer black list, so the problem has resolved itself now !! lol

Best wishes

Paul

Do not want to sound cheap. But is not the tradition in Russia for no Engagement ring? Just a gold band on wedding day.
How about I buy her a car when she gets here;-)

Not sure Guys I gave Nat an Engagement ring and she knew what it was straight away

Posted by: mistermopar

Ok,so there is an engagement ring in Russia!!Maybe.

Randy

Posted by: AkMike

Tanya said that it wasn't usual to get an engagement ring, but it wasn't unknown...

Posted by: swindoom

It is not traditional to give an engagement ring but slowly western media and commercial interests are changing some traditions.
My wife refused an engagment ring as a stupid waste of money that has no real meaning.

Posted by: markgm

I asked Nat today and she says they do know about them and they are given but not by everyone it is more of a western tradition that they have also adopted in the last 10 years.

Posted by: markgm

Mike and Randy you are both getting close to that thousand mark almost time for another logie.

I was married in Feb in St. Petersburg, and I took my wife a very nice engagement ring, she knew what it was, but it is not common to get engagement rings. My wife and I bought wedding rings in Russia the day prior to marriage....But you should do what you want, get her an engagement ring...

It is Eastern European culture to wear wedding rings on right hand!!!! I still wear my ring on my right hand at the request of my wife. For our 1 year anniversary we are going to have an American ceremony and we will put our wedding rings on our left hand!!!

Good Luck~~

For 100% engagment rings are not popular in Russia. If you want to do that you can but if you don't want just feel free.

Best regards,
Natallia
