Should you have any problems getting the visa sorted, get hold of your passport and get into London. My agent is right opposite and you can have it "sorted" in 5 hours

PS. Zhanna and I are really looking forward to meeting you When you get to Ufa, I'd suggest a surprise meal at Portofino... won't break the bank and lovely food! Does your friend know that you know someone here?? I'll PM you my number If you want to arrange a surprise, just let me know and we're on it

Thanks Martyn, I will take you up on the visa thing if I have any problems. Thanks I am looking forward to meeting with you two also, yes she knows about you, she knows I know an English guy in Ufa and that you have given me some information and that you are with a Russian women, I haven't told her much else though.

I will send you all my details.

I spoke for a long time on the phone today to 'A' in Ufa, and also to her daughter for a while which I usually do when I call 'A', I asked why she wanted to be in Moscow 8 or 9 hours before my plane lands and she told me 'just in case' I asked just in case what and she said just in case her flight was delayed, she wanted to make sure that she was there in plenty of time so that she could come and collect me and make sure everything went easily for me through customs etc and that she wanted to be there waiting so that I had nothing to worry about ;-)

I told her I don't normally worry to much about anything and she said well I (she) wants to be sure that there are no problems.

I then asked her about if she is OK for the money she has spent on the two plane tickets for us to Ufa from Moscow as I did not want her to have to struggle because of it and she said the tickets are bought now she has them in her hand and I should not ask again until I meet her, then we can discuss together what we do about the cost of the flights and the apartments in Moscow and Ufa.

Amazing!

Yes Easy exactly my thoughts too, you cannot fault her attention and commitment so far! but then again on the phone yesterday she thanked me a number of times for my attention to her, I have been sending her a lot of SMS messages, ecards and emails recently and I get the impression she is definately not used to someone doing this type of thing for her??

So we will wait and see how things work out. So far so good!

Looks like I'm going on10th March. No Omsk this time. We're meeting up in St.P for a week. Found a fabulous newly renovated large apartment (with double jacuzzi), on Nevsky for under $100 a night. Cant wait!

Thats good news Vic, a great price too for the apartment, it is costing me $100+ a night in Moscow. But my lady in Ufa is still bartering at the moment, she told me she will not spend more than she has too and wants to make sure it is just right, good location not too far outside the centre so we don't have lots of travelling everyday, and at the best price, so I told her just to let me know when she has found what she wants sure takes the hassle out of it for me.

No problem Easy. But I think it might cost quite a bit more later on.

It was $120pn. But when she said it was available throughout March, I haggled and got 20% off (which included a discount for staying 8 days). And this was off the low season rate!

Oh, and although it's Nevsky, its at the Moscow Station end! So, it's a bit of a trot to the Hemitage.

Just spent the morning on the phone to my lady in Ufa...she received my letter and gift in the post yesterday, 3 weeks less one day to get to here, she was over the moon and now has a craving for English chocolates he he.

She has been bartering with people and agencies in Moscow for an apartment in the city centre for us and she told me this morning she will pay for that also and we can sort it out when we meet. She actually let out that she will borrow the money from friends to pay for the apartment, and even though I offered to pay it now, she said she would rather deal with it Russian to Russian otherwise it may cost us/me a lot more. She won't even discuss me reimbursing her for the the flights and apartment until we meet, then we can talk she says.

She keeps surprising me this lady but always in a good way! I am now looking forward to the 7th when I get to meet her.

Yes all RW have more then enough hooks and they are magically sharpen by their gentle touch and much love! As you say Bob, you never feel them go in but you know when you're hooked.

Hi All,

I am on my way back home now, I have finally landed at Moscow Sheremiteyvo Airport 1 and have taken a bus to No 2 terminal (20 minutes by slow coach BTW 10 minutes by flying Taxi Bus on way over), put my luggage in left luggage and I know have a 7 or 8 hours to kill until my flight to Amsterdam.

The hairiest part of the journey was in the taxi last night, 92km per hour on ICE and we got pulled up for speeding. I though there goes my flight, but within 10 minutes and a measly 200ruble fine we were on our way again. I thought just like the UK the Police having nothing better to do at 3am in the morning only catch motorists. To be honest the driver being slowed down was a bit of welcome news I was starting to worry about his stopping skills as we approached red lights on sheet ice but he didn't seem to worry a jot about it

I met up with Martyn (Bingism) yesterday for a few hours in Ufa, took him over some well needed British goodies, had a good time all in all.

It was -12C last night when I left Ufa, cold, and snowing, snow drifts averaging 3 - 4ft but some I saw up to 12 foot deep. But the last few days although down to -10C has been OK, nice weather actually despite everywhere covered with ice and snow.

Spent 5 nice days in Moscow on my way over and then 4 days in Ufa, had a good time, more to report on the trip later. Story with a twist

I am off again end of March to meet my Russian friend from Scotland who I have been in constant contact with while I have been over here. A bit of an unusual and fateful story, may tell you more later.

I am now in Amsterdam, another 4 hour wait then off to my fifth airport of the day don't you just like changing airports and planes and all that waiting around in between flights still it could be worse I could live in Aus

Well guys this is not your traditional trip report, in fact I may not even mention much about my trip to Russia, but I hope you will understand why and the reasons will become clear as I post more.

I started this thread with the intentions of keeping things updated on my search for a lady from the FSU…things have ebbed and flowed and gone off on all sorts of tangents both due to my own and others posts, then last year I thought I had everything planned to go to Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine. But! I called that off for various legitimate reasons, however, I then started writing exclusively to one lady in Ufa and booked to go and see her this last week and I thought everything was going to plan throughout December and January and I had no problems or worries all was pretty much straightforward, Visa obtained, tickets booked, apartments arranged etc etc until fate threw me swerved ball that completely took me by surprise about 6/7 weeks ago and things pretty quickly went off in a completely different direction than anything I could have foreseen or indeed planned, weird really but very very nice all the same!

So tickets and visa’s all in place in early / middle January, me and the lady from Ufa were getting on quite well in emails and on the phone, at this time I still had my profile on EM and was getting a few emails each week from ladies asking if I was interested in them, but I wasn’t I had made my mind up to go to Ufa and that was that, I just replied quite politely stating I was not interested, it was my intention just to go to Ufa and see how things panned out, and if things didn’t then no problems I could maybe meet one or two more ladies while I was there. My ‘back up’ plan if you will.

Around the end of January I received a letter through EM from another lady, I have no idea why, but I looked at the profile and rather than just send a polite no like with the others, something inside told me to reply to her. I was away on business in London at the time and just told her I would write when I got back a few days later and thought nothing more of it, but if she wanted to tell me more about herself then that would be fine!

A few days later I got back home and my mail box was full of emails, some were letters and some were containing photos but all were from the same lady! She told me that she was a Russian lady but was now living in Scotland and the reasons why she came to be living there. But the most weird thing is that she told me she was originally from Ufa! This ladies letters, actions and kind words were nothing like I had experienced before and although we had not even spoken to each other I knew something was different here.

So I wrote back to her, I didn’t tell her anything about myself, but what I did say to her was that I was going to be totally honest with her and that I had arranged to go and see a lady in Ufa in March and that I would be happy to write to her as a friend, but nothing else until I got back from Russia and see how things went over there. I didn’t know if this would put her off, but honesty is the best policy in my book! So the decision to continue writing would be hers.

She immediately wrote back to me and said of course I must go and see this lady and she was totally in agreement with what I had to say and that she wished me good luck and hoped things worked out for me in Ufa, but if they didn’t she would like to continue our communications when I got back. Also she wrote me down a lot of advice on what to do and what not to do in Ufa and Russia, gave me loads of pointers about Russian women and a step by step guide of how to go about arranging my trip. I thought this was really nice of her and she really didn’t need to go to all this trouble. She also enclosed in her email her phone numbers and told me if I wanted to speak with her and get her opinions on things or needed any more advice I could call her anytime.



This left me feeling really good as I was off to Russia and knew if things didn’t work out I could continue my correspondence with my RW in Scotland on my return.

A week or so later, I received an email from the RW in Scotland asking if I wanted to call her, so we agreed to talk on that Friday evening. Friday comes and I call her, we spend about 45 minutes on the phone, nothing special, but was able to discuss things about my trip to Ufa and how it was a coincidence that I was going there, when it was her home City. We got on quite well on the phone and agreed to talk again in a few days time.


At this stage as we had agreed to be just friends due to my previous arrangements and she asked if I could tell her more about myself, because she knew absolutely nothing at this time, so I wrote a long letter to her telling her, but reiterated I was happy to write as a friend until I knew what was going to happen following my trip. We exchanged a few more emails and agreed to talk on the Sunday evening, I called her around 9.30pm and at around 2am we were still talking to each other, nearly 5 hours on the phone! I use the phone at work but hate using it at home, so to talk for an hour is quite unusual for me, but to talk for nearly five hours to the same person has never happened. I went to bed shell shocked the next day I opened my emails to see 2 or 3 more from her, saying how surprised she was that we had been able to speak with each other for so long without getting bored or duplicating things, I wrote back agreeing and told her I would call her again later that week.



During the course of that week, we exchanged more emails, then all of a sudden for some reason we exchanged 52 emails in one day! this was really odd, we had so much in common it was unreal, we thought the same things and also found ourselves writing emails about the same things and sending them to each other at the same time, very peculiar really. It was hard to understand what was happening but we both knew this was moving forward very fast, in fact far too quickly.



Again I reiterated a friendship was all I wanted at the time, but deep down I think we both knew if we met this would turn into something a lot stronger. I decided to change my plans a little and rather than go to Ufa direct, spend some time in Moscow, I told the lady in Ufa why and my reasons and she was OK with it, a bit of a bold step but I really had nothing to loose, she was very happy that I was still going to meet her and that I had been totally honest about things. Meanwhile back in Scotland, I told my Russian ladyfriend I would go and see her end of March if things didn’t work out in Ufa with the other lady. This was OK with her.



So now both ladies knew the position and both were fine to go along with things as they were. Afterall none of us had met at this time.

So things move forward on both fronts, I continue to write every few days and call once a week the lady in Ufa, but in the meantime my communications with the Ufa lady in Scotland moves forward at a rapid pace. By now our emails are in the dozens per day, we are now holding daily phone calls that last from 1 hour to several hours and text message in between. Around this time we have the RMP Meeting in Manchester with some of the UK based guys and I tell them a little of what has happened, they cannot believe things either, I must admit this did at the time seem a little surreal.


Then fate deals me another card, remember we had agreed to meet when and only if things didn’t work out in Ufa with the first lady, but totally ‘out of the blue’ I get a call from a company in Scotland who want to purchase some products from my company and also they wanted me to go up and carry out some training for them. It turns out that there was another company only 30 minutes away from them who could have offered the same service, but for whatever reason they didn’t want to use them and instead wanted me and my company to handle the deal for them. They said they would confirm things with me in a week or so, but for some reason they wouldn’t tell me exactly where they were located in Scotland?

About a week later they called back and said OK lets do the deal when can you come and see us. I told them I was going away very soon but if they could wait until mid to late March then no problem. They of course said no good, we want to sort this out within the next two weeks! I asked them where they were based, guess what? One hour drive from where my RW lived! I asked them when would be convenient for the training and I was told mid week, I thought I cannot have that, mid week would make things difficult for me to arrange the business and also a meeting with my RW at the same time.

So after using all my negotiating skills I managed to talk them into meeting me on the Friday 23rd February thus giving me chance to travel up to Scotland on the Thursday afternoon, meet my RW, then drive to them on the Friday, carry out the business and training and drive back to my RW’s town to spend the Friday, Saturday and Sunday with her. Amazingly they agreed to everything, so I had found myself arranging my trip to Scotland around my RW rather than the business that had made it all possible

As soon as I put the phone down, I emailed my RW and told her that rather than wait until the end of March I would actually be coming to visit her in a weeks time, is this OK? She told me later that when she read my email she let out a scream of delight and her normally very staid accountants office that she worked in had suddenly wondered what had happened.

Needless to say our phone call that evening, we were both very excited. By now the friendship agreement seemed a long way in the past and really we were both getting swept up in the moment and although we both discussed and agreed things had moved very quickly, we both also knew that there was something very very different to which either had experienced before in our previous relationships. We found ourselves discussing every topic imaginable without any sort of embarrassing side effects, we both found things very natural between us and we could both communicate very easily.

Next comes the trip to Scotland, to meet a RW….

Thanks NCZ....I always try to act in a pofessional manner, sometimes you can't but if you know what the difference is between right and wrong then usually things work out OK.

What worked for me here is that I was totally honest about things from the start with both women, both actually thanked me for being like that, although when I told some of the guys at the RMP meet, they could not believe I had had the b&$*s to be so honest with each of them

OK so over the next week or so in the lead up to my trip to Scotland we talk a lot, exchange dozens of emails per day and also SMS each other on a regular basis. I prepare well for my trip, business matters are all in hand and very easy for me, personal matters, well I order a bunch or Red and Yellow roses, collect them before I set off, something she had told me she liked very much and finally set off on my 5-6 hour drive.

I arrive at around 6pm at my hotel in Scotland, I go through the entrance door and meet the owner, who tells me he has a package waiting for me, I told him no way, no one knows I have booked into this hotel, not even work, so no one knows I am here, apart from one person, yes my RW….he hands over the package and just as he does my mobile rings, it is her, I said I cannot believe this, I arrive at a hotel and a package awaits and just as I am given it you call me, I tell her I will call her back in 10 minutes, meanwhile I am shown to my room, open the package and yes it from here, it is a really romantic card with words that are really true to how things have been between us and also she has enclosed a gift for me and written on it ‘Welcome to Scotland’ along with some romantic statements which I won’t repeat here What an welcome!

I called her and thanked her for the card and gift and told her it was really nice of her to think of something like that, I asked her what time we could meet and she didn’t know where the hotel was so we agreed I would go and collect her from her home, then we would go for a meal.

Around 7pm I set off on the 20 minute drive to her house, I knock on the door with a big bunch of roses in my hand and also a small box of chocolates for her daughter. She opens the door and we both act like a couple of teenagers on our first date not knowing what to do next. A few minutes later we set off for the local town and to a restaurant for a nice meal. We have some nice wine and a lovely meal and I ask her if she would like anything else? Her response was ‘ A KISS’ so this was hastily arranged across the table with everyone else looking on, (afterall I am not one for letting a lady down) it is a long time since this sort of thing had happened to me, but who cares it felt very right!

We leave the restaurant and again end up acting like teenagers as we walk to my car, with everyone else on the street looking at us like we should just grow up

I run her back home and see her safely in the house then arrange to meet the next evening, she had already booked us for a meal at a local Italian restaurant.

Next day comes around and I drive an hour or so to carry out my business for the day and then drive back ready to meet with my RW again. I go and collect her from home and we drive the 20 minutes into the nearby City, park up and walk to the Italian Restaurant.

We have a lovely meal, really enjoy each others company and get lots of odd looks from fellow diners who can see that we are really into each other.

Following the meal I drive her home and she invites me in for a coffee, her daughter who is 14 has been baby sitting for a neighbour, so we have a chat and the baby clearly has no intention of going to bed even though it is getting late, so I agree to leave her to help her daughter out and arrange to meet the next morning (Saturday) all three of us, RW her daughter and me and go and do some things together.

The next day I call her and she tells me the baby sitting is still going on, but the babies mother should be collecting her late morning, eventually she calls and I agree to go and collect them both, we drive into the City to a local Chinese restaurant for a buffet style lunch. My RW tells me she has arranged for her friend to look after her daughter for the evening and that she would take her back to her house so it gives us some time together. For the next few hours we walk around the city, do some shopping etc then it is time for her daughter to meet my RW’s friend. We all meet up and I find out that this women is also Russian and has been living in the UK for 6 or 7 years, a really nice lady and was very happily married. She takes the daughter and we walk back to my car.

Even though we had not known each other for too long and had only met a few days before it was quite obvious what we both wanted and what would happen next. So I will leave the next evening and morning up to your own imagination.

Sunday morning we get up and drive into the local town for a quick breakfast, I drop off my RW at home so she can go and collect her daughter and I start my 5-6 hour drive home.

This has been one amazing experience and we are both on cloud nine as I say goodbye. Fortunately we are both old enough and mature enough to realise that although this has happened very quickly, and we have talked endlessly about things and about all subjects we also agree that ‘so what’ it feels very right and we are both very happy then that is what matters.

Next my trip to Russia and my RW's home City!

Yes it is great GTR...it is really spookily weird how we know exactly what the other is thinking or going to do or say at the same time. Even things we like to eat and do are very similar, it really is nice to have someone that seems so compatible.

Ok so I start to drive back home, on the way we are on the phone to each other again, when I get home later that evening we speak again for nearly an hour, no idea what about but it comes quite natural for us to speak for long periods of time without getting bored.

Over the next couple of weeks before I leave for Moscow we speak every evening form long periods and most mornings before work, no matter how early or how late it is. We exchange hundreds of emails and text messages.

The night before I leave for Moscow we talk until late and I then get around 3 hours sleep before I leave around 2am for the airport. Now due to the way this has all developed my trip to Russia has actually become a distraction, but I had already promised to go and me and my Scottish RW have already planned meetings end of March, April when she is coming to stay with me, May when I go to see here again and in July we are planning a week or so in Italy when her daughter goes back to Russia for three weeks, so it is not that bad.

I now have 4 or 5 days in Moscow and 3 or 4 in Ufa….for obvious reasons this trip is not now what was planned and therefore I will not say a lot about it, but I did all the tourist type things in Moscow before leaving to fly to Ufa on the Sunday. I spent a lot of time in Moscow on the metro trying to find my way around, it is not easy when you can read very little Cyrillic but all the time I was still getting text messages and phone calls from Scotland and if I had any problems she was always on the end of the phone to help out.

The temperature in Moscow was around -1C most of the time, cold but not too bad and it was OK during the day but in the evenings it got quite a bit colder. I have posted pictures of most of the things I saw in Moscow here.

The second day I was there was International Womens Day…while I was back in the UK I had already arranged for flowers to be delivered to my RW in Scotland……I got a call from her around mid afternoon Moscow time to say what have I done? I said why, she told me she had a phone cal from home, her daughter had answered the door and Interflora delivered hundreds of flowers to her. Her daughter said she counted up to a hundred and gave up there were too many I had actually bought a special order from them of yellow daffodil type spring flowers, she took photos of them when she got home and sent them to my phone, but there were far too many and she tells me she had them in every room of the house and the smell was wonderful! Needless to say this was a BIG hit with her and her daughter, they still tell me about them. So the text messages and phone calls even though they cost a fortune to make continued throughout my time in Moscow, even when sightseeing, they did not stop..

So on the Saturday evening I remind her that Sunday I am flying to Ufa, I think she was happy because I would see her home City but at the same time a little disappointed that I may get on very well with this other lady and forget all about her! (a fat chance of that after all that has happened) so you can imagine a few messages were along the lines of don’t forget about me etc etc.

When I arrive in Ufa it is -5C, while I was there it went down to -12C. It was on average 3ft deep in snow with drifts of up to 12 foot deep. I was taken to my apartment which turned out to be a lot lot poorer quality wise than the one I had just left in Moscow, in fact it was quite desperate really, but I only had four nights there so I thought I would put up with it, but deep down I was missing the relative luxury of the Moscow apartment and the fact that I had started to find my way around the City.

The next morning things seem a little better, I send a message to Martyn (Bingism) to tell him I am in Ufa and I could meet him anytime as I had bought some English groceries etc for him and taken them over, things he couldn’t get in Ufa. When I spoke to him before leaving the UK I wasn’t even sure if I would go or not so I needed to confirm I was there. We arranged to meet up a couple of days later. Later in the day I met up with the Ufa lady and spent a few hours with her, I really did not want to be there but when I promise something I carry it out, as it turned out she was nothing like I expected anyway which helped me really and she seemed very set in her ways and our conversations were hard work, she had no conversational skills whatsoever in real life and it was really hard work at times trying to keep the conversations going. This made it very easy for me to keep things at arms length and we both knew without a word being said that we were not right for each other. Although we agreed to meet the next day anyway.

Monday evening I had started to find my way around just a little, but I went back to my apartment early to get some rest.

Tuesday in Ufa the weather was really nice and bright, despite still being around -5C..but the air was really fresh. There is not a lot to see in Ufa really but I walked around a few shopping centres and managed to find an internet café, I booked an hour and spent the whole hour emailing back and forth to Scotland. When I opened up my emails I had already received a number from my RW, I had actually sent her one email to open every day that I was away, with specific instructions to only open them on a certain day, she had been a good girl (or so she told me) and done that, and had also replied to every one of them along with photos of all those flowers and other photos that she had had her friends take of her and sent to me specially!

That same day I was having problems with my mobile, Ufa is 5 hours behind the UK, but when in one of my emails I told her this, she said she would sort it for me, an hour or so later she had her lunch hour back in the UK and went to my network provider and sorted it out for me. Not bad, I couldn’t do it myself in Ufa but back in the UK she had it sorted in no time.

Apartment in Ufa...the bathroom was even worse but I forgot to take a photo!

Although the apartment in Ufa was pretty ropey, the views were pretty good

When I arrived there was a family being moved out I am sure they had been evicted so the owner could make some extra Rubles by renting it out to me. Meeting them coming out of the door though was not a nice experience

Later that evening I had booked to go to a concert at the Ufa Opera House, it was an ensemble of violinists, pianists and a cellist, it was absolutely packed and the concert lasted around 2.5 hours, I had a photo taken of me on the stairs of the Opera House which I sent to Scotland, I later found out that Rudolph Nuryev was trained at this Opera House until he left for St Petersburg, he was actually born in Ufa.

Wednesday came and went, pretty uneventful apart from my meeting with Martyn where I handed over the goodies while he explained his broken hand we had a couple of hours together and in the evening I had bought tickets for a dance show which was being held in Ufa as a ‘one off’ it was a joint venture by Krillian and Bashkortostan dancing groups, it was a great show with fantastic music and was live on Russian TV. I was very lucky to get tickets to such an event, but I didn’t know it at the time One of the funny things about it was an old Babushka sitting next to me kept offering me her opera glasses, by the time I had thought of what to say in Russian she had taken them back again! I am sure she thought I was mad, I was very greatful but it is just that my replies in Russian were about 3 minutes after her offer every time, she probably thought I was a bit slow, or foreign or both

So Thursday morning at 4am Ufa time (11pm UK time) it is time to leave for the airport, I have a taxi booked and he arrives and we are on our way after a bit of bartering as usual.

We head off down the main road to Ufa International airport, part way there doing 92km an hour on sheet ice I see something in the distance, it is a man waving a reflective stick! The driver slams on the brakes and skids into a wall of snow, he rifles through his glove box for some papers and gets out of the car. I am now thinking to myself I will miss my flight, but within 10 minutes he is back, it was a police speed trap, 4 am in the morning and they have nothing better to do, just like the UK easy targets motorists, but it is very civilised in Russia, no messing about with points on licences or court appearances etc not a 200 Ruble bribe and we are on our way again, very civilised

We make the airport and my flight to Moscow. Three hours later I land at Sherametyevo 1and look for the bus to take me to Sherametyevo 2 for my next flight. (20 minutes by slow bus, only took 10 minutes the other way by Kamikhaze Taxi Bus)

I now have around a nine hour wait for my next flight, so I store my baggage at the luggage claim point costs 100 Rubles and then jump on the internet at 7.30am. I log on and read my latest batch of emails from Scotland, of course it will be at least another 5 hours before she is up so I send her a couple of quick emails and log in to RMP. Funny as when I get ready to log in someone else’s name is already entered, small world hey!

Eventually the time comes for my flight to Amsterdam, it is around 3 hours from Moscow to Amsterdam, we land and I have an other 4 -5 hour wait, again I jump on the net and by now she is almost ready to leave work for the day, so we exchange a few emails and I say goodbye.

I eventually arrive in the UK 24 hours and five airports later, I collect my car from the airport and start to drive the 1.5 hours home, I call my RW in Scotland hands free and we are talking to each other all the way to my front door I say goodnight and go indoors, have a quick look through my mountain of mail and guess what? Three letters in the post from Scotland, all with letters, cards and little gifts in them and welcoming me back home! what a women. Since I have been back home we have spoken many times already and confirmed our next meetings in March, April, May and July.

So that is a shortened version of most of what has happened over the last few weeks or so. I have posted around 30+ more photos here for anyone interested in some of the things I saw in Russia.

As I say plans are well advanced now for our next meetings, I don’t know what will happen between the two of us, but just at the moment things are very good and feel great!

One funny comment over the last day was from her saying I have been waiting for you coming home for days now, it is odd a Russian women in the UK waiting for an Englishman in Russia, surely we have something back to front here


It is odd how things work out, you can travel a half way round the world to meet someone you think is ideal for you and can end up finding her only 5 or 6 hours from your home in the same country

Yes I wish I had taken a few more photos of the apartment, the kitchen in the photo was the most luxurious part but also just to remind myself over the next few months of how well off most of us are in the West compared to many from other countries.

Thanks Bob...it is funny how things work out, yes we get on really well, the next 3 or 4 meetings will decide things I think.

It is good that she is not too far away and she also now has a British passport aswell as her Russian one, same as her 14 year old daughter so things couldn't be easier for traveling together.

Thanks Deccie...I think we take some things too much for granted, if you see some of the conditions others have to live in, and what they survive on, we should be more grateful.

I worked in Egypt 20+ years ago for a good few months and we were treated like kings, but the locals had barely enough to survive on and their living and working conditions were really terrible.

I read your story yesterday and I was picturing everything happening and that's great how it turned out.

What is your plan as far as making sure that this is your gem?

She sounds like a good thing , but just be careful.

My experience in the past showed me that crazy sh-t could pop up when you least expect it to. And it's always pretty good in the begining when there is some fire. It's when everything eases into the everyday normal life stuff.

But I'm sure you are hip to that. Anyway, I wish you luck with this.

I am off to Odessa in 18 days and I am a little nervous. But I've done it before so this feels a bit easier to do now.

Hopefully I will have a good story to tell when I get back also.

She is coming to meet my family in April for a few days and we will see how things go following that, but for now we also have meetings in May and July planned.

We have discussed this at length already, numerous times. One thing about getting older is you learn from previous experiences and previous relationships, we talk openly about every subject and nothing is taboo.

Consequently we know what it takes to make things work and not just in the early days but for the long term, long term is what we are both interested in now, we don't want a short term relationship and have discussed how we can be sure that this is not that. Who knows what the future holds, but things are off to a very good start anyway.

LOL all planned, booked, kids taken care of nothing left to chance no we are not that far down the road yet GTR but I will be in touch when we do , we were on the phone again last night for around 2 hours, again discussed all and everything, it is so easy to talk with this lady...time just runs away from us, really nice


I know what you mean about the phone calls, an hour seems like 10 minutes. If one or both of us has a bad day, we are both laughing by the end of the phone call! FSU women are the best medicine!

Yes on the other side alright...but no shower and no sink, except it was all in the bath, an 'all in one' the shower was a very poor excuse for a shower though, when you switched on the water the nozzle took off like a cobra dancing around a basket you had to juggle dancing around the cold water until you could get used to it, or switching it on while stood outside the bath and put up with everywhere getting soaked. Ahhh luxury!

Yes I am clocking up the miles lately alright. But it all feels very good I don't think Henry has anything to worry about just yet! But in just over three weeks she is coming to stay with me for a bit
