James, because it's you, here's what I wrote:

12th January 2006

Dear Marina

I enjoyed our time together in St. Petersburg immensely and I am very happy that you agreed to marry me. As we agreed, I want us to be together in England as soon as possible and for us to return to Russia in May or June this year to be married.

For your Fiancιe Visa application (VAF-2) I have sent you the following documents:

- an official copy of my birth certificate
- a witnessed copy of my passport
- a letter from my realtor and my annual council tax bill
- my contract of employment and acceptance letter
- 12-months’ wage slips
- 12-months’ bank statements (the bank reports still show the name of my ex-girlfriend, Elisabeth Kingsley – I spoke with the bank and this is an administrative problem, because it is difficult for them to change the name on the reports, even though Elisabeth has been officially removed from access by the bank)
- airline ticket stubs and itineraries from my two visits to St Petersburg
- copies of our airline reservations for 12th February to England
- my hotel bill from Petro Palace
- copies of our personal photos
- my telephone bills (the phone number 0844 9729700 is the call service I used to phone you in October and November)
- copies of our personal emails

It is possible that the Consulate will want more details about my finances. This is my average monthly expenditure:

Income (after tax & NI) £
Rent
Council Tax
Telephones
Water / Gas / Electricity
Car Payment
Insurance
Loan / Credit Card Payments
Golf Club
Charitable Payments
Income Remaining

In addition to this, I also get a bonus every 3-months up to £

I am currently in the process of restructuring my personal finances with the bank and this will reduce my “loan / credit card payments” by £ and I have also cancelled my “golf club” membership. This will increase our disposable income to £. For two people in England this is more than enough. Whilst you are in England under the Fiancιe Visa, you will not be able to work and therefore I will provide for you an allowance of £200 per month that you can spend as you wish. In addition, I will ensure that you have access to your own UK bank account in which will be £300. You will always have funds to buy a flight to Russia if our relationship is not successful before our marriage.

As I promised, I have reserved a ticket with British Airways for you on Sunday 12th February 2006 on BA879 at 17:00 from St Petersburg to London. I have also booked tickets for me on Wednesday 8th February 2006 on BA878 at 09:40 from London to St Petersburg, returning on BA879 with you on the 12th. Today, I sent my passport and visa application to my visa agent in London (I have included a copy of my visa application form with the other documents). Do not worry about health insurance as I have full medical coverage through my corporate BUPA policy. They are happy to include you on my policy as my Fiancιe once you are here in England with me.

I believe that this is enough information to substantiate your VAF-2 application and to show to the Consulate that we have a good relationship and that I am able to support us in the UK. If the Consulate has any questions, please ask them to call me on my mobile +44

Yours always,

Ma
PS. I love you….

Great ,thanks for that.I had no real idea what to put.My finances are not great re,bank account but i get paid a fair amount for my weekend work about £1000 a month so hopefully the payslips from that will help.I would never have thought of itemising the bills. The plan is to marry in prague and then Liuda will take folder to ekaterinburg to get visa, all going well she will arrive here on june 10th.Hoping that having the Marriage cert will help.Having a problem with her getting cert of no impediment as the woman in charge there says such a document does not exist. It is supposed to be free of charge.Been told we can get on from russian embassy in Prague for $100.Thanks for everything

Hi Bing,
that was a very interesting letter. and, only goes to show that these's many ways to skin a cat.

I've been given a Sponsorship Declaration form to complete. It has eight paragraphs that include everything and ends up with:

I confirm that, adequde maintenance and accommodation will be made available to the above named, without recourse to Public Funds.
I........................................... hereby solemnly and sincerely make this declaration believing the same to be true

And dont forget, if you are a bit skint, you can get someone to co-sponsor you. Usually this would be a parent or close relation. But it can be a friend or even your boss. Having co-sponsored you, there's no actual legal requirement for them to step in, if your finances took a turn for the worst.

James - I know you're probably really busy right now, but I think everyone would love to hear how the trip was and, in particular, how it was having the camera's around...

Vic - Would like to see the rest of that declaration - can you post a link to it?

Hi i did a thread about the trip.It was headed back from siberia. It was very eventful with missed flights on return, being accused of filming in a military area, problems with registration and much more.Liuda was great and my feelings are just getting bigger, the family were great.Read the thread Bing its a long one. Thanks

Will do - what does the xxxx stand for??? LOL

I can't remember, where are you getting married (am I wrong in thinking Prague??). Was Nick there or just the girls and the security gimp?? I'd love to know how he got on in SPb and the "tour" he decided to make - I have a sneaky suspiscion that he was getting rather hooked into this East:West dating malarky... lol

Posted by: JamesB

Hi Bing ,well Nick is just an assistant as far as i know.Lucy went to spb and met an American guy who met seven girls.Lucy said first girl talked him into buying her a $280 mobile after an hour and a meal in a very expensive restaurant. The next girl wanted to be paid to be on film. She said he seemed to interview the girls for about an hour and then ask them if they would be willing move to us.Apparently he left alone. The interpreter was a camp guy from spb who was very paranoid after our dealing with the fis.

Posted by: bingism

Dude, I'm not surprised he left alone... LOL

PS. I can't help myself - it's "sponsor" not "sponcer".... sorry to be a pedantic git

Bing, I've looked for the declaration, but cant find it. So I'm printing it here, where it can be cut and pasted.

Apparently, this will do fine, providing the supporting documentation is attached. I did note that, there was nothing about proof of relationship i.e air tickets, photos etc. But I would add them on anyway.
