Well guys i just returned from Filming with Liuda and had to write straight away.This will be a lengthy thread but so much Happened.

Left on fri am as arranged with aeroflot assuring me my bags would be transfered as my connection was so close.Great flight and i was really happy when i got to Moscow and was ushered to one side by a lovely young ladt who was dealing with connections.Took free bus to other terminal and i was laughing inwardly at how worried i had been.Second flight to Novosibirsk was in a plane resembling a troop carrier with absolutly no frills.Attendebts were polite and in 4 hours i arrive in Novosibirsk to be greeted by Liuda abd her Dad and film guys.Unfortunatly my bag was not there to meet me so i left it to out interpreter to fix.

Booked into a hotel in Berdsk which had camoflage wearing security at the front gates.It was big but we were the only people staying there.Weny and met Liudas family and they were very friendly.It was strange being followed around by the camera but we did have some free time.I recieved a call fron the hotel.They had never had a foreign guest before so were unable to register us which is essential.I went to hotel to be met by lady from Local immigation and major from local Military base who was saying we had filmed a sensitive area near Liudas home.They went through all the film taken and left satisfied.

Immigration woman said we must leave this hotel and move to somewhere else.So following Day the interpreter went to register and she refused and said we must leave.He was getting Paranoid now about F.I S new organisation like kGB.Things were really good with Liuda and her family,we went Bowling as a family and went for a bbq in a forest which was amazing.It was nowhere near as cold as i imagined though the river was frozen and guys were fishing through ice.I was really surprised by the friendly people ,always willing to help.

We moved to another hotel in the Science city where years ago all the scientists were gathered top work and gor registered.When The interpreter went for my bag the locks were broken and baggage guys asked him what was in there for them.He said nothing and they stole his mobile which he had left on Desk.

Finaly i had my bag and gave out presents.I did the vodka session with the father before bowling and kept dozing between Goes which i put down to jet lag.

Liuda is everything i dreamed and more.Any small doubts i had are totally gone.We went to her work and local places and all her friends spoke as if they knew me.Liuda was interviewed as i was and her family apparently were very wary before we met but when i left it was hugs and kisses all round.Last Day and we shopped and bought a wedding dress which was beautifull and would cost about 20 times more in Uk.I bought Liuda an engagement ring.I was not allowed to spend a penny there as everybody insisted so i bought small gifts.Had a wonderful meal and i left Berdsk with Liuda crying at 4am.

Flight was delayed so i reach moscow where i am told my bag will go straight to Heathrow.I refused to leave without seeing my bag and low and behold it was on carousel.Got bag then bus to terminal 2 and was told i could not board.Time was About 10 am and i was given flight for 20.45.I waited in terminal for nearly 10 hours with Little cash as i left my roubles with Liuda.Aeroflot gave me a voucher for 11 euros which nobody would change so i changed up my last Ł30.Went to Bar in Terminal to have a quiet beer and waste time and was amazed to find the beer had cost me Ł6.Getting hungry i bought a sandwich which was Ł5.Moscow airport is a total ripoff.So finally i get home to find my front door broken and a few items missing from my flat!

Well russia was interesting.Shopping in Siberia was like going back to the 70s as was the decor in first hotel.Meeting family was a total success and as for Liuda my feelings have just increased.People in Berdsk were great but the woman in registration was as i would have imagined russians to be many years ago.I look forward to my return but in future i will make sure all the registration papers are in order.But as people kept saying ...This is Russia

Interesting trip report. Glad everything went so well and it looks like a good future. Are you planning any return trips in the near future or what are your plans? Keep us posted.

Hi ,thanks.We marry in Prague on may 26 and they will film the wedding.It will be on channel 4 in July and its called Diary of a love affair.Then i hope Liuda will get a visa to come here.I promised to take her home to Berdsk for Christmas so i guess i will return.The officials there really were quite unfriendly like in The 50s but everyone else was fine.

good feeling yer.
iknow all about getting registered in siberia,wait untill you do it on a relitave invite.
you won,t beleive the bs you have to go through.
took me a bit over a day but most of that was standing around waiting packed into a small room like sardines.
you will be measured,videoed,finger printed & asked about scars & such.
mate i just about had steam comeing out of my ears & i,m normaly a very easy going person.lol
parting is not easy either,hope the rest of the deal goes great for you to

Thanks,it was worth the agravation because it just confirmed my strong feelings for liuda.I can honestly say i never felt like this.When i left she was crying which was difficult and Lucy the producer said she burst into tears during the interview.So onwards to prague and the wedding in five weeks.Then i hope liuda will be ok for a visa.My bank account is empty but i have so much proof now.It will be shown in July on channel 4 and at present its called Diary of a love affair.
