Hi,
I started a worldwide search a short time ago, looking for people with similar interests. I began with Germany, and France. I "stumbled" into Russian sites. The values of the people intrigued me. NOw the big question.
I'm a Red Road kind of guy. Traditional Native American religion, or Spiritually. That means sweat lodge, vision quest, sundance, the whole nine yards. No, we don't use cactus or Mexican agriculture, thats the NA Church. Anyhow, I'm really committed to this path. I spend quite a bit of time with my "religous duties" These are things that can be shared as a family. They actually work best when shared. There is life other than the duties, I have a variety if interest, like horses, reading, all things "normal" people do. I like to Love, and be Loved. I believe in family, very stongly believe. So, in your honest opinion, can a Russian walk hand in hand with someone who has given their life to the Red Path? Control issues are causing me to look outside the circle. Most of the availabe women, who attend these ceremony's, want to "control" some of us. Long story, I'll tell more if it is wanted. I'm 53, looking for somone 39/or older.
I hesitated writing this, then I saw the name of Kashyars co. I thought I would put this out there, and get peoples input. Thanks for listening

Lafe, why not? Sorry Lafe, but you have me a bit worried and confused. Why?

That's quite alot of change for someone to accept when it's coupled with the change from the FSU are to the US. Most of Ukraine and I assume Russia is of an Orthodox religion. I'm sure that where there is a will there is a way.
So my best answer is a definatly maybe.

Good Luck with your Quest.

Sorry about the confusion, I may have abridged the article too much. Our Spiritually is a way of life, basically trying to live the way the 10 commandments teach. Yeah, I borrow the way other paths say things, they're better known and say the same thing. My concern came from other posts, some on other sites, that proclaimed most women in Eastern Europe, espially Russian women, had no belief in a higher power. I do take that with a grain of salt, it is probably the opinion of those who post. I find it difficult to talk of some of these things, I don't like to bring the focus on myself, just our way, I guess. I have a sweat lodge here, and sometimes people will call, or come by, and need a little help. That may conflict with any other plans I may have had, but I need to do the best I can. Like if someone calls at 2AM and needs help, I need to go do the sweat, but after still need to get myself to work. It's rare, but can, and has, happened. A women supporting you in these things allows you to be of better service to people. Most of the men I know, who have similar comittments to mine, have treated thier women with much Love and affection. They are truely partners, and soul mates. A rare find, people like that, but not impossible. A good relationship makes all things stronger, including our ceremony's. It takes a special woman, but also a special man. It takes two. Forgive me for rambleing, I try not to bring much focus on myself, some of the things I do are best heard from other people. For me, it's God first, and family a very close second, so close the probably intertwine. I would really like to hear your concerns, and I will try and clear up any confusion. We seldom talk of these things outside the "circle", people think we're nuts. Who knows maybe they're right!...lol

Well, since I married a lady from Ukraine there might be a difference. But I doubt it. I'd say that alot of the people there are religious but not "fanatical" baout it. Most have more daily needs that take priority. But 'Tatysik' my wife has a religious base that is Christian, she doesn't go to services (like me) but we believe in the basic Christian tennants. Her friends there that I have met are very similar.
I'd say to go for it and discuss this with the women that you find and see what they have to say. I doubt that there will be a major problem because they are very supporting for their husbands and family.
PM sent.

Anywhere from 50-80% of Russians state they don't believe in God, depending on the survey and when it was taken. In Ukraine, it is between 25% and 44%. I think belief in God is higher in Ukraine because Ukraine retained a larger rural population than Russia. Keep in mind also that pockets of the Russian Federation are Muslim, and they always had stronger retention of their religious beliefs partly, again, because they were in rural regions.

Several years ago, a Sioux Holy Man [Martin HighBear, I think] went to Yugoslavia. He had found the Am. Indian religion had been carried there by some of the people who had been visiting the US in the early 1800's. He said the way they sang the songs was awesome, they hadn't developed any slang in the Lakota language. I wonder if it was underground, like here. The Native religion wasn't legal here until 1972. Anyhow, just curious how people veiw in Europe veiw such things. I'll continue my quest, who know, a great match may occure. Thanks for everyones input. And especially AKMike.

Hi Lafe,

Welcome to the Russian Meeting Place.

Yes, my film website's name (wakan.com) was taken from the Lakota language meaning "having qualities of the Great Spirit."

I think that there are some Russian women who would accept and appreciate your spiritual beliefs.

Actually, Lena and I are a classic example of this: I meditate and have spiritual beliefs that I try to practice in everything that I do. Lena is not specifically spiritual, but is a good-hearted person who cares about others, and respects my beliefs.

I think that many Russian women seeking men abroad are looking for a good person and partner, most of all.

Good luck on your path,

Khashyar
