Aint freedom great,

Bring a spare set of shoes.....

I wonder if what they use is a voice stress analyzer? A regular polygraph machine would not work.

Posted by: Leprechaun

Im wondering if any of their own diplomats will have to use this?
Its the question about lying to the authorities.....

"The machine, known as the truth verifier, could be introduced at Domodedovo Airport this July, The Telegraph reports. "

I'll let you know what it's like - I'm arriving in Domodedovo in late July....

And yeah, I've done a fair bit of psychophysiology research into 'detection of deception' (polygraph, EEG), and I know how time consuming it can be to prepare the equipment and participant, so I agree with Greg, it's probably voice stress. Or maybe they've got some brand new technology that uses another correlate, like eye-movements, pupil dilation ... or maybe even just a pulse meter that slips onto the finger.

Whatever it is I'm not looking forward to:

"Those who fail the test will go to a cubicle for more thorough questioning."

Yeah, will they specify which Authority?

Intimidating. My uncle did a polygraph once and it said he lied about his own name.

Posted by: AkMike

Yeah , I've heard that if you lie during the "baseline" early questions it'll screw up the rest of the readings. But I've never had one yet. I'm probably going to go thru Moscow next winter so we'll see.

Hi JP,

So did he? You don't make it clear

Adeski

Everything he said (true) registered a lie, he is the only one who knows what was honest but he was truthful with the name.

He lied about his birthday and it registered as true.

I hit Moscow again this August maybe I will fail :O

If you ask nicely they might re-sole em and give em a shine,

You get that service in our airports.

I'm gonna get off the plane in bare feet - just to play with 'em

I wonder what my Russian girl would think if I appeared out the customs door with bare feet?! Maybe I could get away with "that's how we do it in Australia"

Anyway, just to add something useful to my post.....

I think they are stepping up security because of the increased terrorist risk (from Chechen separatists) in July.

http://www.smartraveller.gov.au/zw-...w/Advice/Russia

This is because of the huge G8 Summit that is being held in St.Petersburg in mid-July. In case you haven't heard of it, it's an economic forum that is attended by the leaders (of some) of the world's most powerful countries. And this year it's Russia's turn to host, so the security will be insane around Moscow and St.Pete's from July 13 to 17.

Originally I had planned to visit Moscow on July 15, but changed my flight dates in light of this event. I want to enjoy Moscow, not feel paranoid something is going to blow up any second. Plus I have heard many streets will be blocked off – but I don’t know if that’s true.

Take care,

scotch.

I heard the whole city will be blocked off, how true that is I still havent found out yet.
Well you know the Russians so expect anything that will control the protesters.

As for the airport, they may chop off your feet!
