Quiet in the forum recently?

Posted by: Khashyar

Hi Jeffs,

What do you mean by "quiet?"

Do you mean fewer posts? Or, a more peaceful tone?

The average active topics per day have remained about 45 or so, so I don't think that people have been posting less.

And, there seems to be as many registered members visiting the forums as there always have been (about 100 different registered members per day visiting the forums per day).

LOL The "up your post count" is winning.

Looks busy to me....odd,...but busy....

Posted by: OzGuyLooking

I don't know about the rest of the forum, apart from Khashyar has told us, but I know the Aussie RMP has a regular boost every evening. Hey we even have one thread that blows all the others away.

If MrHumbles busy but odd was a vote that is what I would put.

Oh being a noob and all, a buddy of mine and I were commenting there just didn't seem to be alot going on, perhaps new people... and I really didn't have anything witty to say yesterday, hence my post!

After the Japan gang coming and partying any forum would be quiet.

There has been A LOT of activity on the forum lately (Darn keyboard, thats what I get for disassembling it after spilling tea on it)...

Excuse my spelling/typos today... having some issues with a rather clean but STIFF keyboard.

Lately there have been many trolls on the forum and there has even been a hostle tone projected by some visitors/members.

We have found it necessary to more frequently issue warning, post links to the guidelines, etc. Everyone has an opinion and that is alright but it is not necessary for the recent rash of name calling, insults and other personal attacks.

Searcher,

I noticed that too recently. I think maybe it's just that it is all so personal and raw to us. But I have learned alot from our friends on here, what to do and what to never do...

This is sort of a genuine question but also a polite joke, what is a noob? We have NOBS in Aus and if they dont know what it is you can really confuse them and refer them to the door nob which BTW has nothing to do with what they really are, but I have never heard of a noob.

Noob=Newb=Newbie=New to all this

well ya lern sumphfang nue evryday.

Today with about 1 hour to go in the 24 hour stats period, there have been 117 registered members who have visited the forum today.

That is one of the highest members of registered members online that I've seen in one 24 hour period.

So, I think that the forum is at a normal activity level.

Khashyar

P.S.... I didn't vote in the poll yet....

It will be quieter now.

You-know-who posted 45 posts in 4 hours this morning and was then retired (bless him).

Is this a RMP record?

Who cares? It was like a cancer growing and growing til it was cut out.

I hope things will return to normal now.

wow what did i miss?

Posted by: AkMike

Look around... It wasn't pretty.

Posted by: Khashyar

I and the moderators decided that a member wasn't contributing to the positive well-being of the RMP Forums, and that person's account was "retired."

After providing a couple of clear warnings (which I believe was fair), we decided that the member was the center of more conflict than good in the forums.

But, I did feel that we needed to give clear and fair warnings first so that the person would perhaps understand and change the behavior. But, it didn't seem like that would happen, and the person's account was "retired."

In an active public forum, this is going to happen once in a while, where there will b a member who seems to cause more conflict than positive contribution to the forums.

Our "2 warnings before being 'banned' policy" I believe is a fair one, and it willgive people a chance to correct themselves, as well as protect the forum. I believe that it is a balanced approach.

I think that it is best that we move on and talk about Russia now, which is what all of us find interesting and relavent to our lives.

Khashyar.

It's certainly going strong

I have been away for a while and only making the rare appearance, but that is not me saying the site has gone downhill - far from it!
