Hello Alexanderr!
Unfortunately, you have took out this word from context. This word has some different meanings. Please, could you write some context with using this word. Sure, I can imagine about your situation. I do need to look at context.

Posted by: Alexanderr

Thank you for your responses.

The full sentence was "moi rodnoi" and was used at the end of a short note to me. I know the moi is my or mine, the rodnoi is something very sweet I am sure, just not sure exactly what.

Posted by: weather-7

Rodnoi has also meaning- dear or very close person or family member
If you have any problem in translation ask me I can help you. No problem.

To call a man "moi rodnoi" for woman in this context mean to be loved for this man.

Thanks Ms S.P.

If you were a Russian like you claim to be... Geee Whizz, wouldn't you know this already???

Posted by: broncosfan

A man would say Moya Rodnaya to a women. Moi Rodnoi is women to man.

I would translate it as "my sweetheart"...

Posted by: Alexanderr

Thanks everyone for your feedback. It appears there are multiple interpretations as to the meaning of moi rodnoi. But the good news is they are all very positive, and that is very fine with me!

Posted by: scotch

here's the phrase in Cyrillic so you can impress your honey even more!

моя родная

scotch.

PS. if you can't see the Russian characters .. turn on the correct Windows encoding by going to the menu at the top of the screen..

Select View / Encoding / More / Cyrillic (KOI8-R)

Edit**: sometimes you need to select "Cyrillic (Windows)" to decode Ms SP's secret messages

Translation please ...

Ты просто бессценный человек.

Thanks,
GTR

Posted by: Chrismc

Something like

You are simple best the person, but the word бессценный is hard to understand, no doubt some Russian speakers will put you right.

Probably translates to "You are simply the best person" ??

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Thanks Chrismc, yes the word бессценный was hanging me up too. I hope Ms. SP visits soon.

At least it is good news,
GTR

GoingToRussia, hope, these words (words of private life) of your loved girlfriend can sound in english like "I do appreciate you" and "I dont need to look for other men". GoingToRussia, you are beloved, your girlfriend loves you. My best congratulations!

She has said this to me before but never used these words. It was probably prompted because I tease her about having a Russian boyfriend. I always say it is a joke and I am kidding but she always denies it.

Thanks Chrismc and a special thanks to Ms. SP, she is quite a delight!!! She'd make a great "catch" guys!!! I'd go see her but I don't think my fiancee would like that.

I'm a night owl too. It doesn't matter if I am tired during the day, when the sun sets ... I wake up.

I will not tease her again about a Russian boyfriend. I do not want to hurt her. "I've been a bad boy".

Thanks again Ms. SP,
GTR

GTR

From my experience RW do not mind being teased but not over and over again about the same thing.
