Why is it we love Russian women?

Lads and lasses, I solicit your opinions on why it is so many western men are attracted by Russian women? I know there is lots of talk on here of the dangers of generalizing. I am a social scientist and my business is to find commonalities between people. How else can we form a society? So brand me a generalizer. I have my hunch on the matter and it is this: we love Russian women because their cultural level is superior to ours. By cultural level I mean the body of knowledge shared and expanded upon by a group of people. Strong signs of culture are the songs people sing and the books they read. I lived for over a year with my fiance (now my wife) in a 600 sq. ft. apartment with four other Russian women. They cleaned floors and worked cash registers and came home bone tired. But at night one would pull out a guitar and sing another would speak to me in flawless French even though she was close to being a beggar. And all of them read. Read. Read. I have never sean a peoples so given to reading. It could be garbage reading or more usually Maupassant and Gide. I found this awfully attractive especially when combined with their willingness to party in an unforced way quite foreign to western women. As to Russian women being better lookers, well, I think that's twaddle. No race has a monopoly on good looks. But there you go. I will now leave this thread unless someone asks me a direct question. I have been accused and lambasted for being a thoroughgoing prick who antagonizes at will, so to break the stereotype I am laying off. But I will read here whatever anyone has to contribute on what draws us. Cheers!

RBS,

Now I understand why you write what you do in your posts. A social scientist or maybe a behavioral scientist.

I will tell you what draws me to the lady I have. We have been so far just e-mailing each other.

In her e-mails she tells me see is a children's medical doctor and explains to me about how she loves kids and taking care of them gives her great joy. Second I have e-mailed more than one Russian lady and the seem to speak very poetically and are romantics at heart. They have a high level of education and seem to espire to have more knowledge. They like to read books, on many different topics, so the way I see it is that thet are smart indivduals.

I would be lying if I didn't say that my ladies picture is very attractive and that is important for me. To be attractived towards each other may convert over to having some kind of chemisry later.

I will ask you a question. How long should it be before I ask to have your phone number and addrees to where she lives and/or works?

Well, what can I say. Every additional word would be too much as nobody has ever described it better than lucky
Keith in Kodiak in this thread:

The thread

Keith's quote to the question:

"Collars and leads...? Uh, no...

Like everyone else here, I'm into blond dominatrix' with fur hats - "Yes, Comrade Commissar - whack - No Comrade Commissar - whack..."

I mean, that is why we're all into Russian women, isn't it? Isn't it....?"

I agree with RBS. For me, in the past I have found the average foreign lady to be way more cultured than the average lady from England (that I have come into contact with). This is not to say we don't have cultured women in England, but women from abroad seem to be more interested in learning and discussing cultural topics.

I guess one recent example is a young lady, from Portugal. She has not long ago joined my workplace. Comparing her to others her age, she is so keen to learn, she reads plenty of books and comes across far more cultured than any of the people in her age bracket. I know it is only one example but there is an obvious contrast between her and the others.

I agree with being attracted to their culture and intelligence. I never thought I'd never love a woman because of her mind!!!

Well, I wouldn't quite say that but I just say be aware of your choice of words or the phrases you use, thats all!

But to answer your question (and excuse me if I stray, I often do) I do tend to like intelligent/well educated women.

I do think that in Russian society they do tend to promote that more, etc. I don't want to create ay stereotypes but there seems to be a bit of truth in that.

AT the time I found my fiance, I wasn't looking for a relationship HOWEVER I have always had an interest and curiosity in Russia, the culture and society. Very little was taught about it here and one could often hear many negative things but when hearing stories or reading thing written by Russian authors, etc it was all quite interesting.

As a child, many of us heard the story Peter and the Wolf but not many remember that is is a Russian story.

I may be drifting off topic a bit ut what appalls me is that there is a nitche (correct spelling?) of men that look for women (Russian, Asian, etc) because the think that they are "poor" and "desperate". Yet one will find that quite often this is not the situation. I think "poor" is a mentality as I find many Russians to be quite "rich" intellectually

Sure, the economy there is not as good as it is here and in any society you can find poor and desperate people but it angers me when I the usual stereotypre about Russia/Russians.

That is enough for now, I guess i'll get off my

I agree with Searcher in many ways but I would not say that Russian ladies are more intelligent or cultured than Australian women, I cannot comment on American, British or European women so I won't, as the most intelligent people I know and have communicated with are Australian women, some of whom I have had the pleasure of teaching.

What attracts me to Russian women? Well I have an interest in Russia generally. I went to high school with a white Russian, who was also Jewish but Athiest. I have always had an interest on other cultures apart from my own WASP culture, the social scientist in me coming out before I was even one, and I find Russian history a fascinating subject. I have to admit I have not particularly looked for a Russian lady, it has just happened. I don't care if she is from Iceland, Canada, South America or even Somalia, I am simply looking for a lady who is the lady for me. It is fairly obvious to me that unless I come across someone special in my own country, which I haven't in 37 years, that she who is right for me must be from over the seas.

Just my simple homegrown thoughts on the matter.

They may not be rich financially but they are very rich (millionaires in fact) in many other ways, more important ways.

Well calling Australian women chicks is bad enough but to call them Neanderthals is simply wrong and a generalisation that I am sure my mother sister and cousins would really hate to have made about them.

I see you are back Gib firing on all 2.

So you don't wish to generalise and then you do.

Contradictory behaviour no?

first i just wanted to say, Fireman, i dig the comment about the Richard Cranium, was too funny!!! true also!!

Actually, i tried my hand at a dating site, for something a little unconventional, i guess, and i received a few messages from russian ladies, never thought of it, or looked into it, but i did after i received messages, and also received a phone call from a certain lady, and her voice and accent drove my crazy, I LOVE IT!!!
i guess for me, its the exoticness of it, and the traditional part as well. the lady i am corresponding with seems to have good strong feelings toward a family. not that i have a problem with american women, people are people and have generally good and bad from culture to culture, i guess i am just leaving all options open, and no boundaries eithers.
if we are free to try a traditional style of wine, then we are free to try an exotic wine too, right? (hope my choice of words doesnt offend, not my intention)
thanks for letting me share!!

If you are going to be RUDE the least you can do is be POLITE about it. Sam has done this in the best Aussie tradition.
