Just thought, when Luda arrives in june all things going well, will i be abloe to register her with a Doctor straight away. Also how do i get her a national insurence number?.She wanted to go to study english but i have a few polish friends who go to school part time but dont make much headway as they go home and speak polish.Would she not learn more by living with an english speaker.?

Hi James,

Better in the UK section I think, so we can all keep track I recall she's coming as your wife....so assuming the visa is issued, yes, she is entitled to register with a local GP and dentist for NHS treatment. So at last, all the money you pay in National Insurance that goes to support holidays for 13 year-olds who steal cars and burn them and then lob bricks at the fire brigade(or is that only in Sheffield), will go to something better.

Best of luck mate,

Ade

There is no problem registering with your local doctor, you just have to go ask for a form and then fill it in, I think the law is any British resident has the right to register, thats really anyone in the country not on a vistor/tourist visa.

Your future wife will learn far more English living with a native English speaker, my wife is learning English at college and none of the English teachers are actually English, so I have to correct some of things she is taught and teach her slang words or sayings that us natives speak. She also seems to be progressing alot faster than people who live in a non-English speaking home.

You will have to take her visa to show them.
They will give temporary registration for the period of the visa, after that it is re registered for subsequent periods.
Russia and the UK share a recipricol health agreement which means she will be entitled to treatment.
Prescriptions though are still chargeable.
Nicotine patches/gum can be obtained free under the government anti smoking campaign,as can family planning aids.
As regards a national insurance number, one is normally issued as soon as she finds employment your local jobcentre will give you the forms.
