Today in our Russian language class our teacher told us that Russian people will correct you if you don't match the gender of an adjective to a noun (god knows why a table has a gender....anyways). Apparently this is not done as a show of arrogance or to convey any disrespect...it is just the Russian way to strive for excellence, or to be as perfect as possible.

Tonight I watched figure-skating gold-medalist Evgeni Plushenko at the finale of the ice-skating, and it was like poetry in motion. He is the epitome of perfection in figure skating. Just really blew me away.

Kudos to the Russians who achieve excellence despite the odds.
