Anyone ever had any success with a Tourist Visa into your country from Russia?

Hi everyone,

My special friend in Russia cannot wait until I visit her later this year and wants to meet with me in Melbourne. She says 6 months of correspondence and phone calls will be wasted if there is no chemistry in person, and I would have to agree with her. Perhaps she reads these forums?!

Just so you know .. she does not want any money for tickets or visa, her family is quite well off.

Is there any slim chance she might be able to be granted a tourist visa (she is early-20s, no kids, no house)? Are there any other types of visas that might be another option (apart from fiancee visa)?

If she travels here with a businessman as his 'assistant' could she maybe get through on a Business Visa?

Also, is there something called an "invitation visa"? I know there is one for Russia (the homestay visa) but I'm not sure about the other way around.

Thanks for your help!

scotch.

PS. I have posted this in the Aussie forum as well, but visa experiences in other countries might also be relevant.

There is a slim chance, but don't count on it. If she wants to try and it doesn't cost you anything, have her go for it! But you should be prepared to accept meeting in a 'nuetrul' country like Thailand, or going to Russia.

I base this on knowledge of others who have tried. Australia, Britan, USA, and Canada are all about equal difficulty for Russian citizens to enter.

I should add, the business trip needs to be legit as in a bonded and insured employer.

Scotch, I do not know about Australia, but my girl received tourist visa to US.
I contacted US consulate in her town and asked point blank is it possible for single woman to get tourist visa.

Their answer was that they want satisfaction that person will return after visit.

evidently my girl was able to do this.

Hope this helps

PS if person is genuine and believable i think it will fly

Thanks guys, Im keeping my fingers and toes crossed for luck, but Australia is very tough on single girls from Russia. A friend is having a wedding here and his fiance can't even bring over her bridesmaids.

But here's hoping!

I have just been informed that my lady friend has been granted a tourist visa to visit me here in Canada.

Yes, she is middle aged, good job, leaving a daughter behind and has property. Even with this though, I was not sure it would be granted

BUT IT DOES HAPPEN!!!

You never know till you try.
