If you told me 3 years ago that I would ...

- (autumn 2003) Meet a Russian woman with great personality and an amazing sense of humor in my own home town
- (winter 2004) Learn the Russian alphabet to ...
- (winter 2004) ... travel to Moscow alone
- (winter 2004) Meet the father of this woman and spend 4.5 hours in the back seat of a car with him driving, but not being able to speak a word to each other if our lives depended on it
- (winter 2004) Celebrate Maslenitsa and eat pancakes (blini) with caviar???
- (summer 2004) Rendezvous with her in London and go together to Madeira (Portugal) for a 2 week summer vacation
- (summer 2004) Break down completely and cry like a whimp at Heathrow, when saying goodbye (Who me? The AngryFisherman?)
- (summer 2004) Learn immediately on my return from our vacation that her father had died during our vacation, and her mother had chosen to tell her only when she returned (bless her)
- (autumn 2004) Experience +22C degrees in Moscow in the beginning of October
- (winter 2004) Having my favourite Russian ( ) staying at my home for the Christmas and New Years celebrations!
- (easter 2005) Spend easter at a very exclusive sanatorium outside Moscow
- (easter 2005) Sing along karaoke-style with a 100+ Russians to some Soviet 80's hits in a retro night club

... I would have ROTFLMAO and called you a liar!

But apparently it happened ...

Cheers,
FisherMan (a lucky guy)

I can relate to that. I would have said the same thing to someone, if they told me this prior to August 2003, but I guess life is truly full of surprises!

Wow, congratulations AngryFisherman

If someone had told me this time last year, that I would have gone to Ukraine twice by the end of this month - I would never have believed them and wouldn't have had any clue why

Yeah, people three years ago would not believe I'm doing what I'm doing now, either.

I, for one, had always believed in "organic" ways of meeting people such as school or work.......but not personal ads. Always thought that being involved in personal ads was either for sleazy people or desparados.

So, what am I doing now? Writing all these girls from dating and marriage sites. Not only that, but this has been taking away time/resources from me doing other things, that I normally do........

Had lost a bit of my knowledge of the Russian language over the past few years. Suddenly, it's 1995 again, as far as the level of last of what I knew. Plus my geographic knowledge has greatly improved as well.

As for my trip to Minsk in '95, it was a very pleasant memory, three years ago. Now it's "Get back, recapture the magic, and bring it to an even higher level.

Plus I never heard of Sumy before, until the past few months. Yet here I am holding in my hand a street map of Sumy, which I in fact had to order from South Carolina.
