Russians to Face Shortages of Vodka Due to Red Tape.

Russians could suffer a shortage of their national tipple next week because a bureaucratic mix-up has brought every vodka distillery in the country to a halt. Many distillers have been waiting for a month for new excise stamps — the anti-counterfeit stickers that by law must be attached to every bottle, but have not received them yet.

Well.well. Boris & co. ain't gonna be happy!
Maybe the Ukraine can do a barter with them?
Vodka for Gas!! hehe.

Kalashnikov takes on vodka market

From gun-toting to vodka-tasting - Kalashnikov takes aim at market

Two of Russia's most famous exports have been combined in the launch of Kalashnikov vodka - but one shot of it should not prove lethal.
Mikhail Kalashnikov, 84, inventor of the AK-47 assault rifle, proudly presented the new liquor in London.

The general, who designed the rifle after being wounded in World War II, said he wanted to continue the "good name" of his gun.

It has long been the weapon of choice for guerrilla armies around the world.

The new vodka, distilled in St Petersburg, retails for about $24 a bottle. It is already available at several clubs in London.

The general agreed to give his name to it after being approached by a British entrepreneur, John Florey.

Mr Kalashnikov argued that he created the gun for "purely patriotic reasons".

"I created it to protect the borders of my country," Reuters news agency quoted him as saying on Monday.

The gun is made in the Urals city of Izhevsk.

I saw this in the Duty free section at SVO airport and almost bought one.
The one I saw is in a wooden crate and the AK47 in the shape of the famous gun is filled with the stuff.
It was priced at about £45 gbp (approx 88 dollars )but theres a lot of vodka in there.

I also saw a wooden crate with what looks like a mortar shell but again its filled with vodka.
Would make a great present
Didnt see these amywhere else in Russia so presume they only relatively new !!

Gonna get one next time we are there tho ............

Joe if you are in Europe then you are limited.
There are many big supermarkets in Moscow where you should be able to get it.
Essentially though I think its aimed at the tourist market as Russians are more concerned with the actual vodka rather than the packaging or fancy names !!

If all else fails The duty free outbound at SVO definately have it......and will save you carting it around Moscow with no danger of damaging it.

The glass version of the AK47 looks very fragile even though its strapped in what effectively is a replica ammo case even having danger stamped on the lid !!!
