Hi I also aksed this at other forum, what is camping like in Russia.

The reason to why I ask is I don't like the information I get from my lady and the very little I have encountered at the net.

For me is there a family camp. Then camps for people without kids (younger).
For me this is camps to meet people from the opposite sex. Or to bring you loved one*, to get away from the city and have horizontal fun.
* wife, fiance, girlfriend or lover.
I understand there is various activities at the site and cafe.

I have difficult to believe the camps are just for friends to go and have fun. If you want to talk to friends and so on, you don't need to get away and be with 100 to 200 other people.

Whats the price range?

hi Brian...

My impression is that that the camping industry is less developed in Russia than in the West (at least in the U.S.)...

It seems that there are fewer and less formal places to camp in Russia. I also think that many Russians spend time in their ducha houses/ cabinss, and that this is how most Russians spend time in nature...

I am sure that if you want to camp, that you could look on some maps, find some sparsely populated parts of Russia, and then just go camp there...

But, I am wondering what the regulations are regarding camping in Russia? Does anyone know?

When I was in Russia last summer, I was thinking about going camping in the Lake Baikal area near Irkutsk, Russia in Siberia... I had met a few people on the Trans-Siberian train who were going camping there, or who had been camping there. I know that there are camping tours to the Lake Baikal area, for example. But, I would assume that you would be able to find some land that no one owns and just privately camp there.

I also met a Russian couple who were traveling on the train through Siberia, and who were camping in different areas, but I did not ask them what the camp sites were like.

But, again, if anyone knows more specifics about this, then please let us know.
