Hi there, I would appreciate any suggestions on what to do about getting permission for my Russian stepson to go to the USA. My stepson's father is not willing to do a notarized letter authorizing my wife and I to take our son to the USA. Currently this is not a problem because we are living in Germany, but eventually perhaps in two years we will be moving to the USA. My stepson is 13 years old, his father has not paid child support since March 05 and he has not had contact of any type (no phone calls, no visits, no letters, nothing) with my stepson since he was one year old. I don't like to point out the negative things but perhaps this are things that we might use to leverage getting the notarized letter granting my stepson permission to go to the USA. If any of you out there has been thru this or know of what could be done our family would certainly appreciate your advice.

Hello,as I know in Russia they have laws if father does not pay child support during 6 months he lose rights as a parents.It is slightly hard for me to explain it into English,-it is not my native language.The mother of child must go to the court and ask about getting all rights to take care about her son without her ex.So since she will get all rights to atke care about her son,she will not need to have agreement from son`s father to move in other country.Yes,it takes time and money,-but it is possible.If you will find good attorney in Russia,you will solve this problem.
