Russian Programming on Dish Network

Dish offers two program packages, one includes HTB and TVCI, the other is RTVI and RTVI+. I am considering one or the other, and am wondering if there are any members who are also current (or past) subscribers. What are your thoughts? Which would you choose?

I loved them all!!!! RTV and RTVi seemed to be less "Russian" than the other two. I know that sounds strange, but there is lots of American based advertising on those two channels. Saturday morning is a great time to watch kids programming and brush up on your Russian language because the dialogue is slower. NTV has lots of really strange Russian programming. RTVi runs lots of serials and some great music concerts on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. I say: go for all four channels

Thanks Cheburashka,

When I posted this question, I did not consider I could get help with my Russian (watching programming for children), but this is a great idea!

When I'm in Russia and we're watching TV, I concentrate on the commercials.

In commercials, the message is simple and language often repetitive. Good for language learning. I first learned about this as a post-doc, when my advisor told his Chinese students to go home, watch TV, and pay attention to the commercials.
