(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: mistermopar

Hi everyone,I am not sure if anyone has did a thread like this,I could not find one.

I thought it would be fun,if you are interested in sharing the meaning of your posting name.

Mine is Mistermopar,I chose this name because I love mopars (Dodge,Chrysler,Plymouth) cars.I stuck the mister in front because I know a fair amount about them,1960-1980 only. Also I own quite a few.

So that is the meaning of my posting name,I hope yous would like to share the meaning of your posting names.

Randy

I still have no idea what a 'mopar' is...but figured it was vehicle related...

Mr.H....short for Mr.Humble (online name i've used for nearly 10 years now)...why I use this name....well...first online game i had ever tried to configure (MW2:Mercs)...asked for a callsign....I had no idea what to put there....so I just put in 'Mr.Humble'....and away I went.

Up until I came to this site I have never even thought of the idea to seriously look for a lady via the internet....so I shortened the name to Mr.H so as to not sound so....well....'not' humble....

I have actually traveled far and wide to meet other people from online communities from texas-Ottawa-Berlin (that was fun)....so i figured what the heck...I could up the stakes and do this...I like travel...I am missing my other half....seem to fit right in here I think....

Well... I an also answer the MOPAR question.

It is an acromyn used by people like him and me as I am also a MOPAR guy and post on other (usually firearms related) forums as "MisterHemi"

MOPAR means MOtor PARts, it is a registered trade mark of the Chrysler coproration. The parts division of Chrysler used this name in the same manner that General Motors uses the name "Mr. Goodwrench" for its parts and service division.

The performance parts division was formerly "Direct Connection" but now they use the name "Mopar Performance".

People that are into Hot Rods or Street Rods by the Chrysler Corp. (Dodge, Chrysler, Plymouth, DeSoto, Jeep, AMC/Eagle) use that as a generic name.

Ok, back to the question......

I used the name SEARCHER because I was searching for information about "Russian Brides" or "Mail Order Brides" as they are sometimes called. I wasn't looking for a RW but I happened upon a site and was intrigued so I started "searching" for more information about this as I had heard about it but that was the first time I had ever seen such web sites (more on how I discovered that web site later). At the time I wasn't looking but saw one lady that got my attention and I think you know what happened.....

Hi Searcher, thanks for contributing to my thread, and for the explanation of MOPAR,I always think everyone knows what a MOPAR is,mostly because it is the BEST.

Randy....MISTERMOPAR

Posted by: cedarwind

My name Cedar wind: Is the definition of the Chinook word “ Canim St ’ Loo” It was a the name given to me upon the completion of my Vigil Honor in the BSA.

It was also prior to that a name which was given to me by a GF at a Pow wow after a owl dance and a few kisses. I was much younger then…. but I am still young so that is not saying much!!!

Hostile_Hostage taken from the movie Hostile Hostages (this film was also released as The Ref)

Posted by: KyDale

KyDale.... kinda with TP on this one! Late 80s early 90s when trying to come up with a name suggestions were use a name that told something about yourself. In that time frame, I didn't know many "geeks" from Ky, and thought the name would help attract locals LOL.

Mr. H... I have a hard time imagining a 100 ton atlas as humble!

LOL>.. yes, I meant to put an emticom next to it... but somehow it got left off..

I started using something like this when I was in London... I had fun with me being from Texas with them.. stuff like, 'you know the UK is only 1/3 the size of Texas!!'... stuff like that... and I had the Texas map and flag on my office wall... when I was in NY I talked how Texas was a separate country.. just take a look at the flag and compare to the American flag.. one star, not 50!!

Also, they brainwash us from little kids, so I have no choice in the matter...

...Back then it was a 40 ton Phantom and it ate Atlases....

Posted by: zaniac

I used the name zaniac, as it was a fairly easy name for me to make up. I took a word changed it slightly and I ended up with the name on the left.

The making of zaniac

maniac

maniac - m = aniac

z + aniac = zaniac

zaniac

This name, I've noticed is being used by other people on different website forums, so I may think of a very unique username for future use.

It's amusing to us Alaskans when people from them little crowded states like Texas start bragging...

True story - during the debate for Alaska statehood a Texas congressman stood up and (jokingly) suggested they cut Alaska into two states so Texas could still be the biggest. The Alaska delegate then stood and informed the Texan that if Alaska were cut into two, Texas would then be the third largest state!

Posted by: Khashyar

Very interesting thread, guys.

My username, obviously, is my first name.

Actually, because the spelling of my first name is very uncommon, I have been able to get email addresses like "Khashyar" @ (many of the email services).

When I was in grade school in Ohio, because the kids had a difficult time pronouncing my name, I went by "Khash" (a shorted version of "Khashyar") until I left college and relocated to Colorado for graduate school. Afterwhich, I wanted to use my full name again.

I have gone by "Khashyar" for about 20 years now. "Khashyar" is the name (in the Persian language) for the old Persian king "Xerxes."

when i was a kid i used to bowl in a league every saturday...i loved it - and every other sport under the sun - and had a notion of being a pro bowler some day (ironically, i can't remember the last time i bowled)...i was fascinated with the pin setting mechanisms. my friend's father owned the bowling alley and once took me back to see the machines. it was as cool as i had hoped; remember this is coming from an at the time ten year old

i used to ask my father about how they set the pins before the automated machines and if he used to work as a pin boy. he didn't but my uncle did and described how he had to tuck away so he wouldn't be struck by a pin. it sounded like such a blast for a kid, so when i was thinking of a screen name, it just came to me.

and now you know the rest of the story....

pb

Posted by: mistermopar

Thats really interesting how you picked your name Pin Boy,and I had never thought of how they set the pins before it was automated.

Pin Boy... ***I APPRECIATE THIS***! Same with me... junior league bowling Saturday mornings... and I kept bowling until my senior year in high school and PROMPTLY STOPPED! (200+ average). In the last 25 years I've bowled a handful of times... but my parents saved my burgundy-candy swirled Columbia YELLOW DOT bowling ball. Still exists... I don't know why... I don't know where to toss it!

Oh my screen name... I love the LAND OF LINCOLN (for sure)... and I kinda styled my name after some of my favorite posters when I started reading the RMP in Feb. 2004, ConnerVT and JimFL. Seemed like a good idea. At lillavilla I restyled it BradSTL, but I like to link my 1st name and where I live. That's pretty boring, isn't it? Typical for a downstater, eh, you Chicagolanders?

Posted by: Pin Boy

hey brad,

a fellow junior kegler...i think i gave it up in about 9th grade..wish i kept it going. that ball sounds like a classic for sure. of course, st louis is the bowling capital of the world...when i was in odessa went bowling and the place had just FIVE lanes...and i thought our local six lane establishment is small!! the joke always was, we're on 7 and 8 today...downstairs!

I know some of the names sound and look a little differant out there, and I'm sure there are some good stories behind them.
Don't be shy people,I would love to hear more of the meanings of your posting names.

Randy

Posted by: spamer

I have this name because we have pictures of me on here LOL
The name I normally use is a dirty word in Spanish, so I'll keep it clean here.

Posted by: bingism

Bingism... I was often accused of coming out with comments that reminded people of Chandler Bing of Friends fame... hence I coined the phrase "that was a bingism wasn't it..."

Whats the FL stand for then Jim, Flounder .............lol

Well mine came about when I first downloaded a chat programme, ICQ, I spent about 2 hours trying to get a screen name, and they were all taken, I didn't want any of their suggestions. I just sat there and thought, you got to be bloody clever to get in here, I typed in clever1 and it let me straight in.
Used this or clever2 ever since.

That was very clever John

Joelunchbox I am a peanuts fan and always liked snoopy's various joes (joe lawyer, joe racer, joe whatever). I really understood his Joelunchbox character the last couple of years in the military. It was get up, get your lunchbox and go to work. I was Joelunchbox for about 3 years. I still slip into Joe mode on some days. But, I like the tag.

Most likely I would have thought more deeply, and have used another name, but there was a period that I would be on line, and right in the middle of an e-mail, it would crap out on me. Was right in the middle of enrolling on this board, and was afraid it would happen again......so thought of a name quick, and happened to be listening to a Raspberries album, while doing this, so this was the first name that popped in my mind.....

I'm a big fan of that band from Cleveland, who reuinted with the original lineup after 32 years apart. Caught some of their live shows(the weekend in New York, and one at HOB in L.A.)........wow!!

Interesting footnotes to this:

(1)My last name happens to mean "the berry pickers" in Greek, so it may have been freudian anyway for the choice.

(2)Raspberries leader Eric Carmen does equally play both extreme ends of the musical spectrum----can, at times, sing hard rock like Roger Daltrey, yet also can play Rachmaninoff on piano. Real talented guy! And, for many years, always thought he was of Italian descent, but I recently found out that his family's roots are in RUSSIA, not Italy.......

So maybe I chose the apppropriate posting name after all!

Posted by: bobjf

bobjf simply because i can,t forget my own name lol.

I have my own business called "The Last Computer Samurai"

I got the idea for the name watching the movie "The Last Samurai" with Tom Cruise. I liked the hard work, spirit driven ways of the honorable Samurais.

The way I do computer repair is not like technicians of today.
Thus too, I am the last of our kind in the computer world.

My first name is Robert, and the nickname of Robert is Bob, and the combination is the handle,
Samurai_Bob.

The avatar is Nickolay.
