Just wanted to say Hi to every one and say that I will be going to Russia on the 18th of Feb. I guess I am a bit older then most every one on here (67) but hope to have as much success as others are having. I have been writing Tatiana for more then a year and am looking forward to our meeting and seeing some of Russia. Wish I had known about Russian ladies sooner but hope to make the best of what time I have left

Hi Bob
Wanted to wish you good luck, and success with Tatiana. Since you are from MN I think, it should not be much of a difference in temp from Russia right now. Never been to St. Petersburg but heard is one of the most beautiful cities in Russia. Again good trip and luck.

The cities big 300th birthday celebration is coming up in May, and I have plans to attend.

Posting about air fares, carriers, hotels, transportation, and your general experiences would be extremely helpful. And pictures would just be the icing on the cake.

I heard that the airport LED will be closed during the main celebrations to all except VIP guests (it is a rather small airport-- like the size of a small regional airport here). So you have to go to Moscow and get from there to Peter-- and that might not be so easy because the trains could be packed. I would get a travel agent for that and not try to figure it out when you get there (especially if you don't speak Russian). As for hotels, I think it will be a bit difficult-- try looking at the St. Petersburg Times (www.stpetersburgtimes.ru) for apartment agencies. I think it will be a lot easier to get an apartment than a decent hotel room at a decent price. I would guess plane tickets will also be very expensive, judging on last year's plane ticket costs during the summer-- $1000 round trip NY - Petersburg, and that's about the cheapest route there is from the States. YOu might consider going at the end of June/beginning of July unless you are dead set on being there for the official birthday celebrations. It's still White Nights and there's still plenty to do at the end of June.

I'm not going until August because I'm having a baby in July, but I think even going later, there will be plenty of celebrating going on and it won't be so crazy and we will enjoy it more. At any rate, we'll enjoy the benefits of all the rennovation going on. I don't have to worry about accomodation either way, thank God, since we stay with my husband's family.

I really appreciate it.

I am one of those "wild spirits" who just feels the need to be there in the heat of the action. That week will be like a Russian Mardi Gras. I know it will be crazy, and probably a pain in the butt, but when you have to go...you have to go!

Hi every one
Don't realy know how to start. The trip was great from the start to finish except the good-by's of course. I used for my visa and travel. The flight from MSP to LED was about $750 and no problems with visa or airlines. I stayed with Tatiana so can not tell about hotels. I have the Lonely Planet guide book on Russia that I can recommend as a big help.
The city is getting ready for the big celebration with many buildings covered with scaffolding but most were open to visitors. The work goes on 7 days a week.
Now the important part. Tatiana and I hit it off great right from the first eye contact. She has great eyes. I'll try to get a picture for you if I can learn how. I met her family - two daughters and their families- all good and helpful pople. Every one treated me as part of the family and soon I hope to be a part of her family. We know we will have some things to work out. Our problems are different then you younger people - a family in each country and things like that but we talked about it and I think we can work around all things. She asked if I could be her man and that is the thing I would like the most. ( there is love for us old timers too )
I have sent in the first petition papers for Alien Fiance all ready. I know that is a long road and I can only hope this war will not make it longer .
If anyone would like to write with questions or what ever you can do so at and I will help as much as I can.
May you all enjoy Russia and its people as much as I. Bob

Hi Bob

Glad to hear you enjoyed St.Petersburg I was there last November and loved it and Katya the woman I met there. She is hoping to come to the UK for a holiday in early May. It’s also good to know that there is someone older than me on the site I felt a bit of a wrinkly (with 3 grandchildren, so far) amongst all these younger people planning families etc. It just proves we are never to old for new romance. Wishing you all the very best for your future with Tatiana.

Warm regards

Terry

Hi Everyone
Just a short update on our progress.
I made another trip to Saint Petersburg the end of September for a three week stay. I had sent the "Petition for Fiance" in shortly after my first trip in May. ( I have to use the Nebraska Service Center ) One week after returning home we got the approval notice. Now the best part - Tatiana was in Moscow today ( Dec. 30 ) and got the ok. It has been a long wait but looks like we are near the end.
Hope everything goes as good for all as it has for us. The best to everyone Bob
