Moscow zip code question?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Elena gave me this address to ship to in Moscow, her aunts home I am changing the street address # for purposes.

Index 10540025
1 Parkovaya 11/5korpus 11 kvartira
Hamidullina T.G.

She says the 10540025 is the postal code? Is this an address I can put on a package and expect it to arrive safely?

I am shipping USPS.

Hey JP,

Get her to email you the address in Russian, print it out and stick it to the parcel/letter, and just add 'Russia' at the bottom in English....then your American posties know which country it's headed to, and the Russian posties know where to deliver it.

Works for me,

Ade

Greetings. I have mailed many things to a town just south of Moscow and I always write mine in just plain English and I have had no problems at all. But mail is kind of slow it takes on average 3 weeks for my friend to get her mail from me. I would recommend sending it certified when I send it this way I have found she always gets my packages.

I think I will mail myself next LOL

Do either of you know if perfume is o.k. to ship? I know that combustables are not permitted and I am not sure if that includes perfume.

Like Cedarwind... I have mailed to Tver in English-only labels... and everything arrived fine. I've also mailed in cyrillic, but included an english label in case my cyrillic was horrible... again- no problems.

I've mailed perfume and it was not a problem. Just use a REAL GOOD bubblewrap... and make sure the contents of the package are secured with fill. (Same with alcohol)

Jpierce one surprise, via USPS, is that the postage to Russia can equal the value of the goods you are sending--- that's a shock!

hmmm Moscow´s zip codes have only 6 digits... for exaple 123654

That is bad so she probably won't get the package then. My parents shipped it for me and did not select "return to sender" for a failure so I suppose I just lost $200.

She is going to think I am an idiot!

Well if anything some Russian postal worker will have something to give his girlfriend or wife for Christmas.
Nah I am just kidding man.
Just trying to shed a little humor on the topic.
The zipcode might be right because Moscow is a huge city with many postal codes.
Its probably right.
Hope she gets it,
Jerry

jpierce55--- I neglected to catch the postal code problem, I am glad hope did!

Tver's postal code is 170100. Hope are all postal codes in Russia 6 digits? Anybody? Perhaps one of the Russian members of the RMP?

All codes have 6 digits so it's just an extra zero that shouldn't be there. And since everyone in Moscow knows where 1-ya Parkovaya is... not really worth stressing about...
