Hi guys

Most of the threads on this board that I have looked at, all point to the lady( not read any about men!) moving to their partners American or European partners country, I cannot recall seeing a post where this has happened the other way around, so my question is , does anyone know of a situation where a western man/ woman has moved to russia to be with their respective partner?

Not having been to russian and seen the situation over there , is this a valid question , could someone from the west survive and fit into the russian way of life and achieve a comfortable lifestyle ??? Or is this question pointless?

Look forward to your veiw on this one!!

there are western men that marry our women and stay here. they even start their own business. An American guy we all know about has big pizza business in Novosibirsk (just 6-hour ride from where I live), he has the biggest net of pizza huts all around the city, beating all McDonalds and KFC's down.

There also are lots of women that came here to work, fell in love with guys and never went back, but they all live in either Moscow or St. Pete. Siberia seems too cold for them, I think. Or too uncivilized.

You're talking about surviving... Come on, man, life in Russia is nothing like Liberia or Papua New Guinea or Albania or else! We may look not kind-hearted enough but if you live in the center of a big city it's like Europe, plain and simple! No problems in surviving, if you have money you have everything. BTW Omsk is one of like 5-7 cities where you can drink tap water even if you have ulcer

yeah.... if you have money it is ok.. but you should get used to dirty streets out of downtown, giving bribes if you have your own bussiness and be careful not to be cheated by others because your face will always show that you are foreigner who has different mind about law and law things....

A friend of a friend met his Russian wife whilst she was on a lecture tour in England. From what I recall from the conversation I had with him at the beginning of this year he left Bristol (UK) to live with her in Moscow and returns here for holidays to be with his children (he is retired and his children have families of their own). He has himself, as a university lecturer, carried out a number of tours across the Russian Federation with his RW.
His attempts to persuade her to live with him in this country have failed because she enjoys her career as a professor too much to give it up.

I've almost finsihed reading "Wedded Strangers" which is about Russian-American marriages and the author cites numerous examples of Americans marrying Russians and living in Russia...some high profile couples. Some couples have bounced back and forth between the two countries. There are differences but they are seemingly welcomed by some. I don't want to get into a book review especially about this book but don't rush out and buy it if you haven't read it. However, I do plan to comment on some topics addressed in the book that I found absolutely shocking. I've ordered some other recommended books.
