My gf lives in Samara. I can find it on a map, but I can't find very much more. Can anyone give me details about this city?

Samara is about 600-800 miles SE of Moscow and about 400 miles south of Kazan. The town was founded in 1586, if I remember correctly.
I think I have map somewhere. May I send you a private post with a scan of the map?

Hi Kirk,

No stupid or silly questions. Perhaps you could sent something to her and maybe get her to send you photos of your gifts (tell her you want to see her smile when she received your gifts, it doesn't have to be expensive, I understand that the local government might insist that she pay some tax on the gifts, the average russian do not earn much, you need to be considerate, some other members on RMP might be in a better position to elaborate further). Having said that it takes time to get to know someone and it's more challenging due to the tyranny of distance which makes it that much sweeter.

Hi

Its one of the biggest cities in Russia wih more than million city. Pepsi has a production here and its a progressive city. With changing economy, moderinzation of public transport. my in-laws live only 120 miles from the city.
Samara has also a international airport. I don't know about fligths to USA, but they have to Germany.
