Terrible news! (my wife has leukemia)

Hi,
My new Russia wife of six months has told me terrible news. She has leukemia. We still were working on immigration process. Now she said that an operation will cost 30,000$ Doctor visits may be free. But operations sure are not.

Hello KC...

I'm sorry that you had to receive this kind of news from your wife...

Is the $30,000 the cost of receiving treatment in her country?

Although I know that it feels difficult, I am sure that you and your wife can decide what is the best course of action to take.

I wonder if the Canadian Immigration department would allow your wife to enter into Canada sooner because of the special medical condition so that your wife can receive the operation in Canada? I am assuming that the operation would be free in Canada? Perhaps you could call your immigration department and ask them.

I want to hear the feedback and suggestions from some of the others on this board.

I will think about this more and write more when I get back to my apartment by the early evening.

I'm sorry again, KC, but... I believe that everything has a reason, and that opportunities like these make us stronger and wiser human beings.

Please take some consolation in the fact that there are people on this board praying for you and your situation.

Hi K.C.

Sorry to hear of the terrible news. I'll keep the both of you in my thoughts and prayers.

As Khashyar suggested, I hope the Canadian immigration folks will allow your wife to arrive in Canada sooner and receive treatment with you. I'm sure the support you can provide to her (both moral and emotional support) will be instrumental in her recovery.

God bless!

HeyBuddy,
I'm really sorry to hear of your terrible news.
I checked the Canadian citzenship and Immigration website, and did not find what I was hoping for

Many western countries offer a visa for medical treatment. Unfortunately, Canada does not.
Quote:

Before coming to Canada

To visit Canada you:

must be healthy. You might need a doctor's examination;

must respect Canadian laws;

will need a valid passport, proof of who you are or other travel documents; and
will need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) if you are from one of these countries. (Russia is included, of course)

Canada does not pay for hospital or medical services for visitors. Make sure you have health insurance to pay your medical costs before you leave for Canada.

Not sure exactly where to suggest you two go from here, but I'll look around and see what I can come up with.........

Hi Keenan...

Is there any way to call the Canadian Immigration department and explain your circumstances, and that you are already married, and so whether they will issue a visa for your wife to come to Canada for treatment?

I think that it is worth a phone call.

I send positive thoughts and prayers that the very best result comes from this situtation.
