Hi guys

This is my first post on this board , and can I say that it is the best I have come across so far! Everybody is happy to help and pass on information! Really refereshing!

My question goes out to those of you in the UK , I have just applied for a visa from the embassy in London , I have done this by post , I am looking for some feedback on timescales and any issues or problems people have had when applying.

Look forward to your replies !

Regards

John

But I did want to say "welcome to the board". If you have a Texas, USA question, ask away. But there are many great people on this board who you will find to be a great resource for you.

Again welcome!

Hi John,

Welcome to this board.
You don't say what kind of visa you applied for. Assuming it is a tourist visa and all associated papers necessary for the application are in order I would be surprised if you didn't have your passport returned, with visa attached, within two weeks. This is the time frame given by the consulate.
I visited St. Petersburg in January of this year and I gave the consulate an email chase after one week. I had a response within 24 hours to say my application had been processed and my passport had been despatched. The same day I arrived home from work to find it in the post with visa attached.
Good service.

Tell us a bit more about your visit, we're all interested here.

Thanks for your information Woody ,yes it is a tourist visa, its encouraging that the service is that quick! I have read that it would be about 2 weeks if all went well , but had not actually seen anything from anyone that applied for a visa in the UK!

I am really looking forward to the trip! I have been in contact with Irina for about 4-5 months , emails , then phone calls etc.....fortunatley her english is very good. Irina was in the UK last year on a language course for a month!

I will depart at the end of August to Moscow, where I will meet Irina for the first time , we will spend 4 days there before heading off to Krasnodar where she comes from . Whilst in Krasnodar , we have arranged to go to Sochi for about 3-4 days., as well as meeting her parents , and cousins and friends!

Should be a good trip!

Regards

John

Hahaha, John without assistance from boards like this we'd all be surrounded by the fog of conflicting information, old and new, posted on various websites across the internet.

This board is good because it is responsive, members are experienced, information is concise and all feedback is positive. This is what we want.

Your date for departure will arrive very promptly and I do hope all goes well at the first meeting. I recall my first meeting with Nadya. Haha, I was tired, I was starving, I was worried. This did not matter. The two weeks I spent with her were the best of my life. That was in January. If her visa application goes according to plan, the 3rd week of August I will see her again, but over here. I cannot wait!

Thanks Woody

I would have made sure I got the voucher that goes with the visa. The one that they are supposed to send from the inviting russian tourist company, instead of standing around freezing my butt off for 3 hours while they decided whether or not to let me into the country (Whilst Liliya's dad sat in a freezing car getting liquored up just outside before we made the 45 minute drive from GOJ to the hotel )

Other than that? mabye get more sleep before I left

Pravda, Jim? Two times through passport control arriving at SVO, never been asked for the voucher. Wudda had to dig deep in the carry-on, for it is usually with my copies of my important papers...

Karieshna Pravda! My POE was not Moscow and I arrived 1 day after visa laws changed - to an over anxious passport control officer

Just For Info !

For those of you from the UK who would be applying for a tourist visa , it took two weeks from sending the application to it turning up on my doorstep.

I did send an email to the Russian embassy in London , which they replied to the following day saying that it had been posted back to me the day I had sent the email.

If anyone needs any help on what to do or the process then by all means just send me an email!

Hope this helps !

Thanks for the information, John....

Would you (and other U.K. members) mind posting a timeline or overview of the "fiance"/marriage immigration process in the U.K.?

I think that it could be a helpful resource for other U.K. members.

Perhaps we could have two different threads about "applying for a Russian tourist visa through the U.K. (London?) Russian Embassy, as well as a different Overview of the steps and general procedures required for bringing your Russian fiance/wife to the U.K...

Thanks for all of your information,

Khashyar

Hi Khasyar

Not that far down the road yet to start thinking about bringing Russian fiance / wife to the UK, but maybe someone else is ?

Would love to hear of any experiences of from the men in UK!

As for applying for tourist visa through Uk embassy , I will post something later that goes through the process.

Thank you very much, John...

I believe that this would be helpful and much appreciated by our other U.K. members....

Shoudl we create a different category for U.K. visas?? Or is it adequate and best to keep all of the visas (U.k., U.S., and others) in the same visa section??

Perhaps we could have sub-forums in the visa section for U.K. visas??

What does everyone think?

Khashyar

Creating a separate section for UK Visas is a great idea, as it would allow for easier reference. All of the threads published on the American process go straight over my head.

It would certainly give food for thought to all those British guests that view this forum for all sorts of reasons. Only last Thursday I was out with friends and I was asked if I'd bought a duffel coat yet (for what he thought was my 1st visit to Russia some time in the future). This was from a guy who up until then did not know about my RG but through this board, my user name, signature and location put 2 and 2 together. All I can deduce from this is that there are all sorts of guys out there hungry for information.

I wonder if anybody made a decision about this UK Visa area on the forums?

My GF and I are trying to discover as much information about it as possible. It seems to me, having read enough of the US Visa posts, that no book that I buy is going to give me enough up to date info on the procedure, though I still might look for one and if anybody knows of one relevant to UK Apps, then PLEEEEASE post the name up here. Cheers!

I think this web site is amazing and it would be the perfect place to post UK info. So please add my name of members from the UK who desperately need a place to find out information from people who are already involved, people who've been through the mill and people who are thinking about it.
