Video clips of Lena and Khashyar's first meeting in the summer of 2002

Hi Everyone,

I thought that I would leave everyone a little present before I leave in 24 hours for Lena and my second wedding in Belarus.

I am going to post video clips of Lena and my first meeting together, in the summer of 2002, so that you can watch them if you like.

I am in the process of saving the videos to our website, and will post links in this thread when the videos are ready to watch.

The 5 video clips that I am posting are from 1 to 4.5 minutes long, and will be in Quicktime format (.mov Apple format). I am going to post two different qualities of video for each clip, one large size (from 25 to 60 megabytes), and a smaller size of poorer quality video for those of you who have a slow internet connection.

Since the video files are in Quicktime (Apple) streaming video format (.mov), you will need to download Apple's Quicktime viewer if you don't already have it. You can download it for free here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html

I will let you know when the video files are on the website and ready for you to view.

As I look back at these videos, I notice how much of a Russian accent that Lena had the first time that we met in Belarus. From her time in the U.S., and in talking to me, she speaks with still cute, but less strong accent. (I will try to post some video from our wedding we get back).

I hope you enjoy them, and feel free to laugh out loud and leave comments in this thread...

Here are the videos that you will be able to watch:

1) Lena and my very first moment meeting, at the Moscow Airport:

2) Lena and I walking and talking a bit in Moscow's Red Square (after having met in person for about one week)

3) A "vodka" lunch at Lena's family's dacha (country) house. I had a pretty strong flu, AND I was drinking vodka. The man in this video is Lena's stepfather Yuri (I call him "George").

4) Lena's father (Yuri, aka "George") and I in the banya (Russian sauna) near the Dacha

5) Lena and I walking on a trail that goes through Lena's family's dacha house. Lena and I encounter some Russians there.

6) A clip of a Russian train going through Siberia.

I am going to make 2 video qualities available: poor (for those who don't have a fast internet connection, and then "OK." (for those of you who have a faster internet connection.)

Enjoy the clips (and feel free to post feedback, comments and laughter in this thread )

Actually, I decided that I would like to make the videos only available for registered members of the forum, so I am going to create a forum area where registered members can go to select and view the clips.

I will post a link to that area here in this thread.

Now, I need to get a little sleep before my last day of packing before I leave for Belarus at 4:00 a.m. tomorrow morning (in less than 24 hours )

Thanks for posting the vids Khashyar, good idea.

Lena has a cute accent, and a nice voice tone. Is this really the first time ever you meet? You seem really close to each other already.

Hi Michel,

Yes, the 5 video clips that I posted were during the first 2 months-long period when we had first met in person.

Before that meeting, we had been speaking on the phone and writing emails (almost daily) for about 8 months, so Lena and I did feel like we knew a lot about one another.

If you have seen the videos, I would love to hear what you have to say. You can post your thoughts in either this thread, or the thread for each video.

The mood of many of the videos, in my opinion, is playful.

I think these are wonderful pictures. My question is did Lena's family think you were a nut carrying a camera everywhere like an extention of your body? I think it would be funny to hear what they thought of it. I think these videos are absolutely wonderful.

Hi Maclode,

I'm glad you enjoyed the videos.

Actually, I was planning to make a documentary film about my trip at that time, so Lena's family understood that and didn't think it was too strange.

Half way through the trip, I decided to give full attention to Lena and my blossoming relationship, and stop filming and give up the documentary idea (since my potential relationship with Lena was more important).

Hi bri,

Lena is feeling camera-shy at the moment but... perhaps in the future, perhaps at this summer's RMP gathering in Los Angeles, I can shoot soem video at our party and post it in the video section.
