My Russian wife has a son from a previous marriage and our intention is for them to live with me here in the UK.

Our problem is what if his "father" refuses permission, what course of legal action do we have available to us if a visa for him is refused?

I know that this permission is only asked for by the british embassy and also know of other routes available to us. I have also been told that under Russian law no such permission is required.

All help is greatly appreciated.
