Hi

In 2Ѕ year I have been in Russia 6 times and totally 12 weeks. I have been visting the same city, so here is some of the changed I have observed.

1. For 2Ѕ year, there was 4 pizza houses and absolute no delivery services. Today this number is up and delivery service is taken place.
2. For 2Ѕ year ago, there was no new house construction going on. Today, large and western stylied house is build. Even new modern apartmen buildings.
3. At my first visit, the mobiles sold was 'out-of date' and many was used from the west. Today they have the new GSM models and so on. But they don't don't have the next generation of mobiles. (don't know the american word, but here they are simply called 3 for 3rd generation.).
For 1 year ago my wife left, to come and live with me. She gave her mobile to my niece, and she was that time the only one in the class. Today over half of the class has a mobile.
4. During my 1st visit, I think I identified 5 or 6 foreign car manufactors in her city, like ford, toyota and Daewoo but today they ALL are there.
Among the domestic cars, they change to. Lada is changed and has made a joint-stock company with Chevrolet. This mean that the old 4x4 Lada Niva is now Chevrolet Niva and its actually good looking. Last year I knew about the car, but did'nt saw it. This summer, they were everywhere.
5. This summer I saw the first man, identified with the american hiphop culture (sorry, if its not correct term, but is where walk with to big pants, t-shirt and a piece of textile on your head).
6. A classic story aboyt Russia, has been that they did'nt show feelings in public and girls don't show belly. This year there was a lot of that, and even my wife was a little surprise. People were showing in public they had a good time, or a negative onw. Talk at mobile so all could hear.

I just posted the biggest canged, but the conclusion is clear. A 'provinsial' town like my wifes, with only 600000 citizen is changing rapidly, culturally and economically.
But don't get me wrong, there is still a lot of the old stuff left.
