Hi Everyone,

The Russian Meeting Place wants to respect the rights of news publishers and authors, most of which require asking permission before posting entire articles/ essays and photos from their websites.

So, we need to apply this policy regarding posting news articles and essays posted in the RMP forums:

1) Please do not post entire news articles/ essays without the publishers or author's permission.

2) You can post small sections and quotes from news articles, if you are including them in a message to express a point. So, you can post portions of an article in your message. In American law, this is called "Fair Use." If you are reviewing a book or news article or song, then you can post portions of the work and then give commentary about it.

3) You CAN POST entire news articles from government websites and government news organizations, since what they write is owned by the public. These news sources incude: Voice of America, government news sources from Belarus and Russia, and any other news sources that state that it is o.k. to re-publish their articles.

4) Please give credit to the owner and author of the article.

Thank you for following these guidelines.

It seems that we ARE able to post articles from pravda.ru, as long as we mention at the bottom of the article that the article is from pravda.ru.

Here is what is posted on the bottom of the Pravda.ru website:

"1999-2002 "PRAVDA.Ru". When reproducing our materials in whole or in part, reference to PRAVDA.Ru should be made. The opinions and views of the authors do not always coinside with the point of view of PRAVDA.Ru's editors. "

So, I would suggest, if you post articles from Pravda.ru, you include at the very bottom of the article:

(from Pravda.ru)

Pravda.ru would be a good source of articles about Russia for our forum and website.

You can simply use the article title as the title of the thread.

Yes, and when reposting something I have written, please place a $20 USD bill in an envelope and send it to me (as well as mentioning me as the source).

Of course, you may just decide to agree with me, at the reasonable price of $5...

Another source of articles that you can post on the RMP, are articles about Russia from "Wikipedia," an encyclopia where visitors create and edit the content:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

The articles there are copyright-free... all you need to do is to paste a link to their webpage where their article is located.

So. feel free to explore their encyclopedia, and post articles in the forum (with a link back to the page where you found the article).
