Well, well, well ...

As of Wednesday 13. July 2005 I am happy to report that there is a Mrs. FisherMan!
We had a lovely little ceremony with only the closest family, but are planning a bigger celebration in the future when more of the pieces, so to speak, have fallen in place. Currently we still live apart in separate countries, but we are hoping to remedy this situation by the end of the year.

What was a really pleasant surprise for us is that the handling of the marriage papers took 2 days instead of the stipulated 14, so we decided to have the ceremony at once during our summer vacation (we had originally more or less planned on having the ceremony later this autumn). We had some really hectic days making the rounds at all the jewelleries we could find to get the rings we wanted. Of course we should have bought the ones we found and liked early on, instead of going through the hassle of visiting all the other shops just to find ourselves back at the starting point. But what's the fun in that eh? I suppose it is part of the modern ritual of getting married ...

The marriage ceremony took place in Norway and the paperwork there was a breeze compared to the papers she needed from Russia. Talk about red tape and beurocrats, yikes! I probably should write a book on the subject, but I am afraid as there are seemingly no written rules there will probably be a thousand different ways of doing (and not doing) this.

Interesting to think that only 3 years ago I had never even considered it a slight possibility that I would ever travel to Russia, but even during the last 12 months I have been there 3 times. And I have had a blast every time with my special lady!

So I think a salute to all the good people of RMP is in order, in some strange way this forum has helped make parts of the last 3 years a little easier between the trips, phone calls and whatnot.

Cheers,
Mr.FisherMan

Wouldn't that make her Mrs. FisherWoman? (or for the politically correct, Ms. FisherPerson)

Congratulations to the both of you!

Congratulations Fisherman....

I would love to meet Mrs. Fisherman when the opportunity arises.

Please post pics of the ceremony if you feel comfortable doing so.

I would also love to hear how she adjusts to Scandinavian culture.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish you both many years of happiness together!

Aye Conner, I will give my FisherWoman your wishes! But I refuse to be politically correct

Jill, Khashyar and Conner: bolshoe spasiba for all your kind words

By the way, here's a good tip for all you people thinking about getting married to a Russian without telling your Russian teacher ... don't!!! I simply do not know how people find out these things, but rest assured ... they do ... and they will get angry, real angry, for not getting invited to your party. I will for sure be thoroughly grilled and questioned during this autumn's classes

Lucky indeed, thank you Pin Boy and Leprechaun!

I'll see what I can do about writing some summary of our big day, but keep in mind that we will probably a larger celebration in the not too distant future including more of the extended family and friends. So I will probably make a post about this as well.

Cheers,
FisherMan
