Does she want to stay here or return to Russia? It might be worth a try to offer her a one way trip home to settle before court. Sign off and leave. You'll still be saddled with the debt though..
Inlove has made some very good observations too.

Hi. I'm a 50 year old man. I've been to Russia a few times as a visitor and can speak some Russian. I'm thinking of going to Russia, firstly to improve my Russian and do some English teaching but also would like to see if a relationship might bloom there. I would like to live in Russia and, if possible, start a family there. Hope that wasn't too much information!

Posted by: GoingToRussia

No, not too much information ... lets hear more!!! There are at least 2 members in Russia now teaching English, MisterMopar (Canada) and Bing (UK).

Welcome to the Russian Meetng Place (RMP) and yes it is possible to find love in the Former Soviet Union (FSU).

Take care and good luck!

Hi, everyone,

I'm Rita from Central Pennsylvania USA. I came on looking for Russian Women dating sites that include lesbian and bi-sexual women. Very few Russian dating sites can be searched in the "Woman looking for a Woman" mode. Any advice as to how or where I can go about getting in contact with lovely Russian women who might be interested in a romance and long-term relationship with an American woman? I'm not bad looking myself, but gad, how exquisitely beautiful they are!

You won't find many on international dating sites. The thing is, since gay/lesbian couples are not at this point able to legally marry, your Russian partner would not be eligible for an immigration visa. Tourist visas are hard to come by and would only be temporary. In other words, if you found someone with whom you would want to stay long term your only options would likley be a long distance relationship, or you would have to move to Russia. You partner would likely not be able to relocate to the US (well, unless she could swing a student or work visa somehow).

So why not take a trip to Russia? Any large city would likely have gay/lesbian bars and clubs where you could meet people I know there are also Russian dating sites that have "women looking for women" sections (e.g. bigmir). But still, you would have to actually go there to really meet anyone and the long term prospects are dicey with the current immigration system.

Hi everyone
Known as Kevin and I Live in London UK (Walthamstow) and work at a London University. I met my wife in July 07 (who was part of a Russian group touring around the UK). After along communication on internet and webcam.
Hooray for new technology!!.
We seemed to have 'clicked' with the chemistry between us, as we felt we had known each other for 10 years not 10 months. Well I visited Kazan in November 07 for a week as a guest of my 'friend' & family and was overwhelmed by the hospitality (and brandy).

We visited the usual tourists sites. We saw a play as well with translation included. The highpoint was a Tartar music festival of music at the Opera house, the sites within the Kremlin and Kazan State University. It's the one Lenin and Tolstoy got expelled from!! The University's museum is worth checking out too. This was opened up for me especially as it was meant to be their closing day.
It helped that my 'friend' worked at the University.
Well one thing led to another and we was married in Kazan on 11 January 08. It was minus 20 on the day! so i wore a lot of clothes under wedding suite.
A 3 week holiday with 4 days in a sanatorium in Zelenodolsk. On the way back to Kazan we visited The Rafia Bogoroditsky Monastery noted for the 'Miracle working' icon of 'Our Lady of Georgia'. They also produce there own 'spring water' as well and run an orphanage for children with challenging behavioural problems an inspiring place to be. This is a must see place. And indeed attracts pilgrims from all over Russia including personalities. Mr Putin has even visited here also for the work they do and that the monastery and associated buildings have been restored from being derelict..
As an avid skier, I even managed to squeeze in 2 hours skiing in Tartarstan's only ski resort. It has only 4 pistes so you can ski the whole resort in 30 minutes.
My wife will be coming over permanently in July. So I picked up a useful few tips about Visa letters from your site. So keep up the good work everyone.
I have loads of story's to tell later but they are not so funny for me (a few embarrassing moments) and hopefully, I can pass on a few tips as well from the places I have visited.

I am interested in places to ski in Russia so i am looking for info on the best places to go and any do's and don'ts .
Best wishes everyone

Welcome Kevin! Looking forward to the stories of your adventure.

Check out the site of the 2014 winter Olympics, Sochi Russia. Visit now before it gets to expensive.

Congrats on your marriage! I hope to be married also next month when she arrives ... if all goes as planned.

Take care and I look forward to your posts.

Another alternative is to 'settle' in the legal sense through residence in a country that recognises 'civil partnerships' between same sex couples e.g. the UK. However, it may take a few years for you to achieve this settled status depending on the country which you intend to settle. Some serious sacrificing here! GOOD LUCK

Thanks..... AND good luck on your marraige as well... .
A SKIING TIP.
I have my own skiing equipment but did not bring it because to much luggage etc and ski resort very small but modern . The biggest surprise is that the ask for a really large deposit for ski 's (only)25,000 roubles £500 or $1000 dollars. Poles and boots separate deposits. This is obviously for keeping out the 'rif raff'. i said "this is a you are the only ski resort in the world who asks for a deposit".
The ski's were only worth $200!!!
He said do you have a driving licence? Thinking i drove all the way from London by car I said "yes" they accepted this ONLY after must protestations from my wife.
I think they were scared I might break their second hand ski's. (passed my expert exams in skiing).
So the moral is always take your driving license as well as passport and phone ahead for paying conditions deposits etc, to avoid disappointments and wasted journeys.

Hi Kevin

Welcome to RMP, I was in Chernivsti Western Ukraine for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Year, with my fiance, we were planning on some skiing in the Carpathian Mountains, the nearest part you can ski to Chernivsti is only 15 Km away, however the temperature dropped to -25C and they had a metre of snow overnight the days we planned on going so it never happened unfortunately.

There are lots of good places to ski in the Carpathians, but not so easy to get to from the UK.

Hello My true name is Bob
Like many before I have travelled twice to Russia and now only after two years of pursuing a future with a Russian/Ukrainian woman have I found this site.
I hope that not only thru RMP can I learn from the wisdom and experinces and gain support from current members but that I will also be able to relate my experiences and help and support others in our quest for love and happiness.
I have already read so many threads and travel logs in the last few days waiting for my account to be activated which have raised many questions and comments for me that I wish I could have posed already.
So as a new member I have sooooo many questions!!!! and hopefully you will not feel that I am forward and aggressive in my quest for help and knowledge, and if you do not mind I would like to pose my first question???

Hello there everyone,

I stumbled across this website last night and it’s good to know that there are people out there as crazy as I am!

So here’s my story: I actually got into all this because of a scammer that e-mailed me on a domestic dating site. I picked up on it pretty quick but it still got me thinking what if it hadn’t been a scam?

So I hopped online and found ‘Lover’s Planet.’ I don’t know how it stacks up much compared to other sites but it seemed genuine and it had a reasonable rate for one month’s unlimited access sending and receiving messages, etc. So, I jumped.

I didn’t know where to start as I’m sure everyone else wondered at some point so I built a criteria for picking the ones to actually email: they had to be smiling in their pictures. It didn’t matter if they were drop-dead gorgeous, they had to be smiling. I understood later that the constant smile is not so much of a Russian trait in pictures but anyway, I think it worked out great. I started talking to 3 or 4 girls, and after about 2 weeks, I figured out who was sincere and serious about the whole process, who was not, and more importantly, if I was sincere myself! One girl started to blow me away, coincidentally the one with the biggest smile, because she was really going out of her way to make time to talk to me. She was coming in early to work and staying late to have extra time to write emails to me on her work computer. Later, we started using ICQ. I made a few phone calls through skype and even though she was struggling with her English I could tell that she knew a good bit. I said that she really ought to get a computer and a fast internet connection at her flat so that we could talk more and a couple weeks later she bought a computer off her sister and had high-speed installed in her apartment. I did not realize how much this cost her until later. She asked for nothing from me in any of this. I paid for a webcam for her and a headset, and then we were able to use skype video chat… It was great. Fast forward 5 months to this December, and my Christmas vacation rolls around… We met in Italy which I thought was great even though the middle of winter is not the best time to hang out in Italy I must say. However, the 10 days I was there with her were some of the best in my life. It surpassed all my wildest hopes and I was smitten to say the least. Just so you guys know, Russians can’t travel many places, but if they book their trip through a travel agency, they can get visas to go to Italy. It was a leap of faith on my part to finance this, but I had seen and had faith in the sacrifices she had made to want to make it happen. I was half expecting to get there and have nobody waiting for me, but there she was. Ahh… wow… it was great. The only bad part was leaving. It has made us both a little desperate to get to see each other again and she is sad sometimes because she misses me very much. This is even more difficult when you see the other person on video but can’t touch.

Anyway, we both are divorced, I’m 33 and she’s 26… and we both feel strongly that we need to live together for a while in order to know that we are TRULY right for each other before committing to another marriage. Seriously, I threw out everything that might scare somebody off… even told her that if we did get married I would need a pre-nup after what I went through with my first marriage. She was actually happy about it. Seriously… As much as I thought this one has to be the one, I knew, as well as she, that we needed some real quality time in a normal environment to know for sure.

Anyway, so how to live together for an extended period of time before committing?: the student visa. She wants to enroll in ESL classes which are relatively cheaper than going to a full-blown university. The ESL school will process the student visa and they don’t require you to jump through nearly as many hoops in the application process as a university would either. This buys us as long as we need to get to know each other, improves her English, and the student visa is relatively easy to adjust when or if we get married. She gives up her job and takes a chance on me, and I will sacrifice some of my plans to give this a shot as well but if this pans out the way I feel it will, it will be well worth it for both of us.

So yeah, glad to meet ya’ll.

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Welcome to the forum Yeldarb!

I'm in the process of getting my future step son a student visa. ESL is good but she may not need this if her english is have way decent. All foreign people must take a TOEFL test before they can get a student visa, there is another type of test but I forget the name. Anyway, if she passes this test then she can apply for a visa after she finds a college to accept her.

TOEFL also has classes she can take to "gear up" for the test if needed. It would be faster, but probably more expensive, to use TOEFL.

TOEFL is world wide and she might have an agency in her city. here is the website, www.ets.org.

Good luck with your girl and any future plans.

Posted by: Yeldarb

I don't believe the ESL schools we're looking at require a TOEFL score. She just took the TOEFL anyway so it wouldn't be an issue if it were. Her english is good, but she wants to be very fluent, so advanced classes at ESL school could help. In any event, it gives us a chance to live together and for her to feel confident in her abilities here before considering marriage. A good option all the way around...

Thanks and good to meet ya!

Posted by: GoingToRussia

You're correct ESL doesn't require TOEFL. You can bring her here on a student visa. You will have find a college that accepts foreign students and will accept her application. She also has to go full time. Eash student visa is good for 1 year. She can go to college and study ESL if she likes. You must also show support for her during her stay. She can only work so many hours and for her first year and can only work on campus.

Posted by: Yeldarb

Yeah, the ESL only schools are pretty much only foreign students, and most of them handle processing the I-20 for the student so they can interview for the visa.Work in one of these ESL schools would probably be almost impossible as they appear to be fairly small. Full time classes appear to be about 4 hours a day on average and the tuition will run around $1000 to $1500 every two months depending on the school.

Here's a question. Are the visas always for a year? Meaning, if you stated up front that you only wanted to enroll in a 6 month ESL program, would you therefore only need to show financial support for 6 months instead of a year?

She's looking at getting a short term loan for the amount she will need to show she has access to while not actually using this money. It would be easier to do this if we only needed half of the amount (6 months) instead of the full amount (1 year).

Posted by: GoingToRussia

She can try for a tourist visa and go part time to school. This is how foreign student come to the USA and go to school part time.

Check this website for specifics, http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/t...8.html#overview

Posted by: Pin Boy

hi yeldarb,

i teach ESL in a public school K-12. don't have much experience with ESL at the college level. what kind of school are you referring to as an "ESL school?" are you referring to a program at a community college. curious to know.

welcome and good luck.

pin boy

Posted by: Yeldarb

Pin Boy, there are a few schools that are stand-alone private schools, not part of a college, that only teach english to foreign students. From beginning to advanced levels and I have seen one that specializes in business english. Some of these schools process student visas. That was the angle I am trying to take. I've been digging into it and it doesn't seem to present any insurmountable problems in getting her in there.

Posted by: Yeldarb

GTR,

I thought tourist visas for Russians were virtually impossible to get.... I have read that adjusting status from a student visa is much easier as opposed to a tourist visa. Any input?

I might wrong but the only way I know how to be a part time student is to apply for a tourist visa. All student visas are for full time students and last 1 year. I don't know if it is a "mark" against you if you stay for only 1 semester ... probably not

I'm sure your odds are better with a student visa as opposed to a tourist visa.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Aaron, and I live in Mesa, Arizona, which is near Phoenix. I'm an attorney and I've been divorced for about a year now. I recently got the wild -- but incredibly intriguing -- idea that I'd like to meet a woman from the FSU.

Has anyone used HotRussianBrides.com? Interesting experience for me so far. I'm a young-looking 40, but I'm getting about 150 e-mails a day, mostly from women in the 18-25 age range. I've heard that Russian women are comfortable with meeting older guys, but this is really surprising to me! Obviously, the younger ones aren't that interesting to me, even though many of them are stunningly attractive. I question their sincerity -- or their foresight. LOL! Has anyone else had a similar experience?

Anyway, nice to be here, and I hope to learn from everyone's experiences as I embark on this new and exciting chapter of my life.

Alot of threads about HotRussianBrides on here, big waste of money. A big percentage of the women on there get paid to be there to keep you in chat rooms running up your credits. It's one of the biggest scam sites out there. it will cost you approx. $1500 to get an email address or any other type of personal contact information on any of the ladies on the site. I have an email from the site detailing the minimum requirements to get the contact info on them, I cancelled my membership as soon as I received it.

A few years ago I went to Kiev to volunteer as a teacher of English. Since my grandparents immigrated from the Ukraine to Canada many years ago, I felt a tie to the country. I made a few trips to the Ukraine and one to Moscow. Now I am interested in meeting a lovely lady in those countries.

Of course,I did much travelling to learn more about the culture of my grandparents. It was very interesting.

Hi everyone,
My name is Winston. I am an Asian American and I've been to Russia three times, spending about a year total there. My adventures are chronicled on my infamous website:

I am known as a trailblazer and have put up some nice breathtaking photojournals of my trips in Russia here:

My biography can be found here:

Nice to greet you all.

I have one question for anyone qualified to answer though. Is it true that the Russian women in Eastern Russia (Siberia, Vladivostok, etc.) are far more serious and attracted to Asian men?

Thanks,
Winston

Hi everyone,

My name is Brad and I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I just moved here from Salt Lake City, Utah. I joined your forum to learn a little about Russian/Eastern European culture. I am thinking about traveling abroad to find my other half as I have met a couple of couples in that situation and they have amazing relationships.

What would we all do without the Web? Can't wait to hear from you all.

It's a matter of habit. Asian men are rarely seen in central and western parts of Russia. So Russian women from these parts of the country prefer Europian type. As for Siberia and the Far East it's widely populated by Chinese and Korean people, a lot of them marry Russian women and such marriages are not looked upon as something unusual or exceptional.

Hello Brad,

Think long and hard and ask a lot of questions before you proceed down this road. Also read as many threads on this site as possible. These threads will get you started, http://russianmeetingplace.com/foru...isplay.php?f=82

Also be careful about women that ask for money or scammers as we call them. Here is some information about this topic, http://russianmeetingplace.com/foru...isplay.php?f=86.

It is also a long, expensive (AND I MEAN EXPENSIVE), and will breaking journey. It can effect your sleep habits and mental state as well. In the long run is it worth it ... I think so!

Take care and good luck!

Posted by: TravelingMan

First thank you for your post. I have done a little research, sites about scammers, etc. That was, however after I stumbled upon Anastasia Int.(Lasted about twelve hours) and thought it seemed a little unrealistic. Subsequently I found this site so I will call it a good start. Everything happens for a reason?

So, out of curiosity what about a foreign wife is expensive? Before marriage or after? Just a little background; I have been married and the divorce has cost me about 50k. I guess I'm not as worried about money as I am perspective and values. Not that money doesn't mean anything but even an American marriage can cost you a lot of money. Besides, I have always wanted to travel to Kiev. It has something to do with War and Peace, Pierre and his transformation. If anyone does not get the allusion just ask. So I might get some vacations and get to know a few people but I will remember to be careful.

Again, thanks and hope to chat later.

Posted by: AkMike

The $pendy parts are, looking , finding, traveling, staying, courting, winning bringing back and helping them learn a fresh culture and language. Other than that it's no problem different than any AW you've ever met.
Is it worth it... You BET!!!

The 3 trips and 3 months I spent over in Ukraine meeting and learning to love my wife are the first of many great memories for us.

Posted by: Chillidog

the biggest expense is the travelling, most trips 1-2 weeks will cost around $4000 or more, depending on where you go and what accomodations you stay in. If serious you then have to figure at least 2 trips, the first trip is just to meet the lady and the second is to solidify the relationship on both sides and know that this is the person you want in your life, it may of course take more trips and then it is the fileing fees and getting the Visa for her. I will agree with AkMike and GoToRussia that yes it is worth it, but from a different point of view, AkMike has his lovely wife already living with him and GoToRussia should hopefully has his future bride with him any day now, for me my search continues and know eventually I will be in the samehappy postion as the others.

Welcome to RMP it is a great place to learn and build friendships

Posted by: GoingToRussia

Another big expense is the documents for doing the immigration process, $3000 minimum ... more if children are involved, flying her here, and getting her settled in your country. She will bring 2 suitcases and that's it, too expense to ship anything (to the USA) except family heirloom and irreplacable stuff. She will need new clothes, new electronic things (hair dryer ...), cosmetics, and a slew of other things.

GTR
the $3000 cost for documents/immigration process is this cost with a lawyer factored in? or trying to do it yourself and just the filling fees and such? are you also including the cost for Change-of-status in this figure?

No lawyer included in the cost but change of status is. Green cards and children are also not included. This is a minimum price to get her here and keep her here.

I did not realize that all of these filing fees amounted to this much (not that it will change my desire) I will need to look into these more. Does the USCIS web site list all of the fees involved?

CD using a lawyer is a waste of $$$$. It's easy to do and do right, yourself.

With Rima, I have spent that much from the time I have first met her to the present. This includes trip, immigration paperwork, dating site, trips to Chicago, clothes, money to her daughter, and other things.

I would say about $40,000 and I don't even have her here yet ... but then I'm not a good or average example.

I am Henrik, a 40 years old Swedish man. In the search for a better half. Last year I was in Lutsk, Ukraine, to meet a girl that I had known for a while. It did not go so well. Now I am on the search again. I guess that I can count myself lucky, being close to Poland, and from Wawa, it is easy to go to the Ukraine.

Posted by: AkMike

Welcome Henrik! You'll find alot of good info here. Are you near Malmo so you can easily take the ferry to Poland?

Posted by: skanehenrik

Since I am a newbie, I can't answer on the correct place.

First, she said that she was going to Prague. Since 21st of Decembre, 2007, the Czeck rep. is part of Schengen. It means that she needs a Schengen Visa, cost, 30€ for Ukrainian citizens, (you wrote that she was bulgarian, does that she has bulgaian passport?) were it to be the case, there are special arrangements from going to Prague. Bulgaria is member of the EU, but not of Schengen. The plane ticket, with Czech Airlines is 350$ for a round trip.

Do you know if she is a teacher? Have you asked her about the books, about the children, is there maybe a funny pupil, her colleagues and so on. I ask these becouse, first she stopped at 1 pm, and than 2pm (when you were coming) and the thing cleaning up. She said that she needed 40 minutes to clean up. I am sorry I don't think a ukrainian teacher cleans. To be a teacher, although not paid so much, 2000 UAH(?) a month, would not do that kind of work. Remember the former FSU had distinct classes. A teacher is a teacher, and not a cleaner. It would be reported on the TV news and so on. And the politicians in the school board would get nervous. She might need 40 min. to prepare next class, or have a meeting with the other teachers and so on. But not cleaning.

Does she have a computer? When you are having your telephone conversations, once you said about that you had sent her an e-mail. Did she send something back? Maybe she was bluffing during the conversation, and dashed an e-mail, later from work, or some friend. The same about the Skype. maybe she was with a friend, and used her computer???

She seems to travel alot. During school time. Ask any principle in Florida and you will get the idea!

You were talking about the train to Kiev. To buy a ticket on the UZ, "Ukrinians Amtrack", you need a passport. Espacially if you foreinger. Did you send her a copy of your passport? Her illness came in due time. I am sorry to say this, but it doesn't seem good. To go on the in SV (first class) on the UZ is really special. Usually the night trains are full,
http://www.uz.gov.ua/index.php?m=se...ra.Place&lng=uk

Is the price and number of available seats on train Nr 9, Kiev - Odessa, as you can see the SV are quickly taken and cost 300 UAH, per person, per trip. If she had bought the tickets, she would have spend 240 $ Did she? Every person in Ukraine, know that you must buy tickets well in advance. Once I had a girl who took a day to travel to Lvov, just to make sure that we would get place on the train and so on.

Must new (10 years or less) telephones in Ua you can see the number.

Have you seen her passport? Is it her real name? Maybe she is married? Does she have children? Remember, Odessa girls are strong, and special. Also keep in mind that an ukrainian man, would give her flowers, pay taxi, but if he does not get a kiss, after one week, he would tell her to go to hell.

In short. I don't think that she works as a teacher. She was in Prague to
1, meet a german man
or
2 meet many german men.

RUN and don't look back.

Hello Mike,
Yes, I live in Malmö. There many cheap flights to Poland, cost 4-50 USD. Yes I also live near the ferries and have taken the ferries often to Poland. Poland is a good place

Hello, I'm nursemike, I am new to this forum. I have been doing some reading, and researching for 3 years, trying to get a understanding of FSUW. I am just now getting out of debt from my divorce 4 years ago. My hope is to learn from you, so when I go I won't make to many mistakes. I believe I have a good agency Elena's models. I have a few women that I write but nothing serious. I would like to plan a trip to Ukraine in the summer of 2009. I would like to find a women who is comfortable in smaller cities, and is more concerned about raising a family. I'm 53 and would like a woman 35 to 40. I am not in a hurry. I plan to make several trips a year and we'll see what happens.

Mike, you'll probably head out sooner than 09 if you find a good one! Try to have a visit within a couple of months of finding a good lady. Otherwise they might think you're just looking for a pen pal.
Get your passport ready.

I totally agree Mike with Mike when you find one you like you will be booking tickets, believe me, plans of far off trips go by the wayside the minute you hook into a good one or she hooks you more like it

Hi every body!
I live in Montreal, Canada but I came here from Romania about 6 years ago. I am quite an international person as my father is German descendant and my mother is Vietnamese (she was student in Romania long time ago). I speak currently 4 languages quite different ( English, French, Romanian, Vietnamese and a little bit German).
I am very new in RW dating business, actually I was hit by some scammers when I put my profile on a Canadian dating site. Finally they got nothing from me but made me interested in RW. Now it looks like some drug and I think I will not get out from this without a RW by my side.
Best of luck in your search.

Hi, My name is Jeff and I am fairly new to this community and find it fascinating to say the least. Like Rick, I was approached by a scammer who led me through a week of wonder before I did some research and discovered "her" true agenda. But while I was doing my research I became more and more fascinated by the REAL women out there in the FSU. To be honest, I've always had a thing for easten European women, so this idea to search the internet for a sweet Russian girl to correspond with was not so far fetched. I signed up on Lavaplace and immediately found myself involved in a dozen introductions. After a few weeks I had narrowed it down to 3. Then 2. Now, after just 2 months I have found myself completely engulfed in the life and history of this lovely young lady. Since I was looking to travel to meet someone, it was an easy decision to commit to visiting her in Moscow this summer when the invitation was made. So here I am. I am looking forward to my trip and I'm glad to find this community of like-minded men and women to share advice and stories.

Welcome to the forum Jeff. Most of us started this way with a scam. I wish you luck on your search.

Welcome Razin,
I am not from NZ so I cannot help you with the countries laws or requirments, there are others on RMP that can, not sure if there is an 'easy' or 'painless' way though. There is an 'Australian & New Zealand' section I would recommend reading the posts in there and there is also info for Visa's in there for your country, post a few more times in this section and then you will be able to post your questions in these other sections as well.

Hello Fernandovitch,
welcome to RMP when you get back (or even possibly while you are there) tell us all about your trip. are you going specifically to meet a woman? if so how did you meet her on-line? is this to increase your knowldege of their culture or buisness trip? all here at RMP will be interested in your story

Not sure how it works in NZ or Oz but in the States all I can say is its nice to be on a first name basis with ones local congressman. Or at the very least donate a decent amount of $$ to his campaign.

If its anything like other forms I have had to fill out and wait months I figure when the time comes to deal with my paperwork it should be a breeze, damn fast and quite possibly low cost.

Posted by: Sterling

Hello Everyone,
I'm a newbie at all this. Just trying to get educated on all the necessary fine points of a possible foreign babe. I got divorced after 17 years of marriage. I am talking to couple of ladies from Ukraine. I walk into my office,
my 13 year old son is on his myspace talking to some model. So I look and it's Anna's pic's. Or should I say Anna was using her pic's. This is going to be interesting.

Posted by: dagpop

Like father, Like son!

Posted by: Pin Boy

johnny,

i wouldn't count on your local congressman being able to speed up any kind of visa process. in my almost 5 years on the board i've never heard of anyone having any luck going this route. they may be able to help on other matters, but i don't believe this is one of them.

Pin Boy,
I have wanted to write the same thing you did in another thread where Johnny had stated these same words of his 'connections' would make this process for him sooooo easy and sooooo quick. But I thought it would just evolve into a pissing contest without any real means to show proof, so I just decided to keep my mouth shut , but since you have raised this question, I too would be really interested in learning how this 'Miracle' can happen?

Posted by: Pin Boy

hi CD, it'll be interesting then to hear johnny larue (one of my favorite SCTV characters btw) tell about the situation.

Posted by: JohnnyLaRue

*sigh* I don't want to get into a pissing contest either. All I was implying is that it helps to have connections. I am not name dropping on here either. All I meant to say is it helps to have connections. When your uncle is one of the head honchos for the Teamsters it also helps. It helps when he throws "parties" and you show up and get to know certain people in power over the years.

I.e: The time I needed a lot of permits and forms approved for my business I was starting. According to the bureaucratic office I went to it was 12 weeks for the wait. I made a call to a few people and I was bumped to the front of the line and had everything by the end of the week.

Not saying I agree with it but my point here is money talks in US politics. Going to a fundraiser and spending $1000+ for a plate is an investment. That was my entire point. Also make friends with those who work at certain places (i.e: DMV). I gave my friend some forms I had to turn into the DMV when we were hanging out. No waiting in line and wasting 2 hours at the DMV for me.

Am I saying the visa process will be done in a day when it's time for me to cross that bridge? Of course not! If I implied that I apologize. I'm just saying certain stumbling blocks/red tape will be removed and the entire time it takes will be quicker than average.

Chill: You should know all this living in Chicago and all. I mean Chicago politics and all....

Posted by: Pin Boy

sorry johnny, but i just don't believe you.

Posted by: Spakoyna

I don't know if it is coincidence or not. Our application was hung up in homeland security. I have a business acquaintance friend who was friends with whats his name who was head of homeland security at the time. He said he was playing golf with him the next week and he would mention it to him. Bam! We were out of homeland security the next week!

Whats the teamsters have anything to do with it? They are a dying union anyway. There are more people leaving the teamster union every year than any other union in this country. And since they are the most corrupt union in the country, they really don't have the credibility they use to have 20-30 years ago. Your uncle can be Jimmy Hoffa, I don't think he's gonna help you get a K1 or a K3 processed any faster. If you really think you have the connections to get it processed faster, well, good luck with that and let us know how it goes.

Posted by: Pin Boy

not to stray to far off topic...but if johnny can use his connections to make something like this happen, then i'll be happy to hear the story, but until then there's no story to tell.

Fine it's no skin off my teeth either way. The sun will still rise, the sun will set regardless if anyone believes what I have to say or not.

Bottom line it's not worth getting into a flame war over it. If I knew what I said would have caused this kind of backlash I would have never mentioned it.

*edit* Besides if anyone feels I am delusional and I am in for a rude awakening when I try to get a visa so what? How does it affect your life?

JohhnyLaRue,

that is why I wrote, what I wrote about 'me' keeping my mouth shut and not asking you "how this can be done" I do not doubt in many instances having connections can get things done faster. I am just a skeptic on the K1 Visa being able to be done quicker even with connections, but I am not saying you are full of 'horsehockey' just that I am a skeptic. The problem I see with this discussion is until it happens and you can prove your connections got you a K1 Visa and your lady over here living with you in say 3 months when it is taking closer 8-12 months now, it is all conjecture and speculation. Without facts and proof you are in essence fighting a losing war until such a time you can present these facts.
I think many if not all will also be skeptics until that time.

I've known a couple of cases where a lawyer was gonna speed up the process but just the opposite happened. One that the only thing speeded up was the flow of cash to the lawyer.

Yeah, well i hope everything goes well. I'm going to Moscow in a couple of months to New Zealand embassy. Just to have a chat to see if any of my questions can be answered there. Hopefully they'll put me in the right direction atleast where to start. Biggest thing that concerns me, is whether i have to live in NZ or not to start the whole process? According to the visa requirement i have to be in NZ to support an applicant, but at the same time they ask for proof of a relationship. So does it mean i have to get married, then leave my wife here, and only then make an application for her visa so she would be able to come over? It's a bit of a nonsence and a puzzle to me.

Posted by: AkMike

No, The proof of a relationship just means that you two actually have met and can support that fact with pics of the both of you at places readily known and bills ect that show you have been together face to face. Maybe letters from others that have seen you and been there with you both, And lot's of phone records ect to show an ongoing contact.

Ok. But how does it work out then. You see i have a dual citizenship. I'm Russian citizen and a New Zealand citizen. NZ doesn't have a problem with me being a Russian citizen btw. They accept dual-citezenship. So i get married with my lady, then translate and verify marriage certificate at the NZ embassy. Now that could be the proof of our relationship or the photos or the letters. Since we are living at the same address. But what i ment is, how does my future wife get's her visa to enter New Zealand? Since i'm here in Russia at the moment. Do they really mean for me to go back to New Zealand without my wife and then start the whole visa acquiring process? That's just seems crazy to me.

Posted by: FreddieD

Hello, just found the site, and did some checks on a russian girl I have been corresponding with.

I have just been playing along for about a month waiting for the money request, but she has yet to play that card, lol.

I really have no interest in trying to meet someone who misrepresented herself on Match.com as being from Ohio Illinois. But it is fun keeping up the e-mail trail. Maybe she is real, but the chances of that are between slim and none, and slim just walked out the door.

If I knew how to post a pic I would.

Fred

Posted by: AkMike

Just remember rule #1. Freddy. Never send money to someone that you've never seen face to face..

Once you find your way to a real live russian/Ukrainian woman you'll throw big rocks at the AW on match.com and wonder why I never thought of this along time ago!

Mike gave you rule number 1 and is is the best.

Sometimes girls use a different location on sites so they will be seen more.
People searching the US,Ohio or Illinois will see their profile.
I see this a lot and have asked some why.
People don't always search Russia for a girl.
It gives them a better chance to find a man out of Russia,as many are tired of the men in Russia just like we are tired of the women in our own country.

Randy

^^^ That and some sites ask for zipcodes so I have found out lots of foreign women have Beverly Hills as a zip code. (90210).

Interestingly enough the allsinglerussian site thinks my zipcode does not exist and says it is invalid. Therefore I had to put in the next closest area which makes for having to explain myself in every email that I don't really live there. :/

Hi. My name is Dmitri and I live in Cape Town. I am new to this online dating business. I have been browsing quite a few sites and have settled with 2 (after reading about the scams from agencysams.com). I hope it is ok if I post this. So far, I have not had much (any) luck, so I keep trying. Who knows, maybe I will get married one day and settle down.

Cheers

Dmitri, it just takes time. Good luck searching.

Posted by: Sparky114

Welcome Dmitri
Good luck with your search, read this forum and you will learn many things

Posted by: jbly

This is my first post on one of these sights, I have never been so curious about finding an new significant other. I am sure my curiosity started like many others, by a scammer. That first unsolicited email from a beautiful young lady, she found me funny, whitty, intelligent, sexy....... And in only 2 weeks she loved me, wanted to come and see me, wanted marriage and children. I have been asked for money in more ways in the last 6 months that in my 40 years of life. I continue to search and I hope I will find that right one. I am hoping to find the information on this site that will lead me in the right direction, with out the heart ache.

I would say that I am not gullible because I never sent money....Yea. But I did drive an hour to the airport, bought flowers and champagne, and searched for 2 hours. Only to get home and have an email waiting there for me, describing her misfortune. Apparently she left the airport to visit an internet cafe. only to come across a woman being robbed. My hero lady chased the mugger down and he turned on her, threw her in the sewer and beat her. God bless the police man who heard her screams, otherwise she would be dead. She suffered 3 broken ribs and a ruptured spleen, after 2 weeks in the hospital, she is better and now ready to travel. Only thing, she spent all of her money and now she needs $100 for food and travel, so she can come and be with her love. She says she will be here in only 4 short days, even if I don't send the cash.

Oh God, I can't wait.

Here is my only question. Why would a woman spend 3 or 4 months writing a man and the come up with some lame attempt to scam a guy out of a couple of bucks? I have the means to give her the life she always dreamed of. All I asked for was honesty. Is it really that tough?? Oh well I do hope this site helps.

thanks for all of the good advice, I enjoy reading this forum.

JBly

Posted by: OzGuyLooking

Hi JB and welcome to the RMP.

Its obvious you know the money rule so I wont say it.
There are genuine ladies out there, it just takes a lot of patience and time and effort and sincerity etc. etc. etc. to find her.

If this is the path, or one of the paths, you feel that you want to take you need to realise that you are going to come across a fair few scammers. The first bit of advice I'll give you is try your best not to get disheartened about it, keep an eye out for obvious signs of scammer activity but don't give up just because of the bad eggs in the world, keep searching/looking and you could eventually find the one for you.

Because it works. Most likely it is not even a woman writing the emails. There are many sophisticated auto-email programs that will send you a reply every time you send "her" an email.

If the scammer sends out 100,000 emails, and gets a few people to send money, then he/she is ahead of the game. Con artists have been around since biblical times, and will be around until the Earth falls in to the Sun.

I am intrigued to find out where all these guys find the scammers, I have been doing this for over three years now, written to dozens, visited the FSU many many times and have never met one yet I sure am glad I am out of the searching game now though

Posted by: jbly

I appreciate your words of wisdom and encouragement, I think this site will give me plenty of insight for helping me down my path. I am not sure what path that is going to be, but I am sure it will help. ChrisMC, I am glad to hear that you were successful in your search, I would actually like to hear more from you and anyone else for that matter who has been successful.

Here we go, I have a feeling that this was my last letter from my "love" as she has gone from asking for $1500 to only $100, I think she may have scratched the bottom of her barrel.

Her letter to me: It is hurt to me to speak about it, but I am obliged to tell to you. I spent all my money. I spoke you, that my stay in hospital will be
paid by the Shahty Medical Insurance Company. But they paid only a
my stay in hospital and the most necessary medicines. I have paid for
the best medicines to speed up my recovery, and to see you more
likely. But I have spent for it almost all money. I still have not
received my money of vacation. Today I and Evgeniya spent night in cheap
hotel, at edge of Moscow. It was bad night. In this hotel live
basically tramps, drunkards and addicts. We with Evgeniya slept by
turns. All the night long someone shouted and fighted. We have been
terribly frightened. Every minute we expected, that us will beat or
rape us. I at all have no money for meal. My dear Jeff, I very much
am nervous We spent all our money for hotel. Today we shall probably
have a sleep at the airport on armchairs if we will be allowed with
police. It is inconvenient for me to ask you about something, after
that that you have made for me, but I have no other exit. If you can
send me of a little money, even $100, I shall be grateful to you very
much. If you really want to help me, you can send your help in any
bank in Moscow. Certainly if you cannot send money I shall
understand you and I do not condemn you. I somehow shall live 2 days
up to our meeting. I shall not die from famine, I hope somebody will
give me a piece of bread. I shall inform to you my flight and time of
my arrival as soon as I find out. Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
I kiss you. Yours for ever Aleksandra.

So that is all folks. If she has any more heroic or bizarre tales, I will be sure to post them. I don't know if this kind of heroism and despair can be computer generated, it is just too good. But I have to admit that there were several letters where I don't feel like she was answering me, so it could have been. And she has been writing me since February, what a waste of time, for me.....

Chris ask where these women are coming from. My guess is that they are coming from Yahoo Personals, some how they get your personal email address, I have had 4 since posting on Yahoo in January. One good thing has come of it, if I ever want to start my own scam service, I have several portfolios of photos and letters to accompany them.

Thanks again everyone, I appreciate your input and I hope you enjoyed the "tale."

jbly,

I have been doing this for 9 or 10 years now and have only came across a few scammers myself.

To help you out and get you off to a better start, try these free sites.
freepersonals.ru
free-dating-agency.com
I have not met a scammer yet on these sites, and I have been in contact with a lot of them.

They get your email address the same way spammers get your email address. If you sign up for things online and give away your email address. You can be pretty certain at some point your email address will be sold to one of the spam lists. There is also automated programs that just send emails to the major email websites, i.e. @yahoo, @gmail, @mail... and if the email doesn't bounce back they know they have a good address.

I have seen email clients that bypass the SMTP protocols and can pump out 30,000 emails a minute.

Yes I understand that, but I have always used a Hotmail account for all my searching, sign ups, correspondence etc and still have not had any 'out of the blue' emails or scammers, I feel like I have missed out guys

Posted by: OzGuyLooking

JB have you googled any lines from the emails you have been getting? Alot of scammers use form letters and all they have to do is cut and paste and then insert your name. It would be interesting, to me anyway, to see if she has any form (meaning if she is listed on the net as a scammer).

EDIT: I just answered my own question. She has form.

Instead of $100, you could offer to send "her" a violin.

LMAO....good one Stevo...

Randy

Posted by: jbly

I never tried to google the lines of the letter, only the names that were used. This site is the bomb, more info in 10 minutes than any other site I have been on. The letters are pretty much the same. I am so sad, my Aleksandra will never be visiting me. My heart aches. Nice letters though, thought the heroin one was extremely clever.

I am glad to get the names of some of the free sites too. I don't know why I am afraid of using the pay sites, I guess that I just feel if I am going to be scammed, I don't want to pay a broker for the same crap I can get for free.

Peace Out, ya'll are funny as hell

Thanks

There has been a quite a few members from this site that have met their wifes from free sites."freepersonals"

Don't be scared, just put your profile and photo on and then start seaching.
Its easy.

Randy

... Is scared to put myself out there on these sights. I just refuse to pay for them. I am freepersonals.ru as of now, we will see how that goes.

I want to pose one more thing to everyone/anyone:

I am thinking of going of a vacation to Russia in September. I don't want to do a romance tour, I think that is kind of like going to a cattle auction, but I want to go with the option open of finding someone. I was checking hotels in Moscow and was floored by the prices, I can go to NYC or Tokyo for less. I have a friend who lives in Crimea, and thought about starting there. Problem is, will I have problems crossing the border if my initial destination was say Kiev? And am I nut for thinking that I can just go to one of these cities and think I can get by without the language skills? I have traveled to Germany, France and Dubai with out any problem, there were always plenty of people who spoke at least conversational English, Do you think I would find the same results in Russia and the Ukraine?

Posted by: EasyTarget

You can easily get around the cities without speaking Russian. Bring a good guide book with you. However it really helps if you can learn a few basic words / phrases before you go. And if you ever get lost, look for a college age woman, take out your map, and ask for help. Most will help you.

No matter what you will need a visa for Russia. If you go to Moscow, you might want to contact Uncle Pasha or Olyesa, so you have a "friend" in the city in case you need some help.

You can always contact an agency in the city in advance, and let them know you will be showing up. If you give them a 1 month notice they should be able to help you set things up. Especially in the September time frame most women will be in town and not away on holidays.

Worst thing that happens is that you have a few bad 1st dates, best thing you meet the love of your life.

Good addvice ET

I have never stayed in a motel,I have always rented a flat. It is much cheaper.
A local agency can help with the apartment.
They can also set you up with girls.

In Volgograd it is $20 to meet with a girl from the local agency.

Hello everyone. Matt here from Houston and quite happy that I have found this site. I have been "looking" for an FSU bride off and on for quite a few years. Seems that local girlfriends set me back now and again. Anyway, I stumbled upon this site yesterday and I believe that I have learned more in the past 24 hours than I have in the past 5 years of searching. Yeah, I know it seems crazy but it is the truth.

Even though I started long ago, it looks like this is the place to really start my search.

Matt235

P.S. This is my first post and I hope I'm not violating any rules!!!!

Posted by: matt235

On the scammers note, I have had to deal with two of them in the past. The weird thing is that they contacted me first, but not on a site that you would expect. They came from local (Houston) websites. I think the sites were either date or match. Either way, they happened about 4 months apart and they went from "Hi how are you" to "Why won't you send me $500" in about 4 days all the while professing an undying love for me.

I had heard of scammers long before and I guess I was fortunate in understanding the motives.

Stevo,

Just what would the postage on a violin be anyway!?!? Just joking around. I got a kick out of your post.

Posted by: jbly

I put a post and a short bio on the free site, 3 hours later I got my first letter. I know she isn't my soul mate, but it was a real letter from and real and sincere lady. No form letter, no heroics, no drama, just a nice woman. Nice to chat with someone you know is the real deal.

And ET, thanks for the info on Moscow. I am going to call my travel agent on Monday. She should help me get a visa in order. I am sure it isn't real difficult is it?? I was under the misconception that all you needed was a passport to travel to Russia. I ma glad that you spoke up, now I will be prepared. One more testament as to the value of this site.

PS Go KIMBO What a fight

JBLY:
Getting the visa for Russia is not really an issue, unless your a felon, or were kicked out of Russia for some sort of crime.

It is good that you got such a quick response from your ad. Just be polite with her, Thanks, but no thanks.

A little tip for the free personals sites...ALMOST all of them will show some profiles after you log in to the site. Every wonder how they pick which profiles to show? Usually they show the people who logged in recently. My suggestion is to log in every day, whether you have any replies / letters or not. This allows your profile to stay on the top of the list, increasing your chances. Also don't be afraid to change some things on your profile from time to time; especially if you have a dry spell. Change which photos is your "main" photo. Change the word order in describing yourself. And most of all keep plugging away.

Welcome Matt235.

Better yet, get a custom-made violin. Actually, there is this guy out in Mariupol that does some great work.....and the shipping would be much less from there......

Welcome aboard, Matt. And it is funny seeing "Matt" and "Houston" in the same sentence......reminds me of a TV show in the late 80s/early 90s But seriously, connected with Texas myself in a couple of ways........and yes, this site is indeed informative. Glad you like it!

It is better to be single, than to be caught in an unhappy marriage. And Randy, I presume you were looking for local women in this period(at least in the beginning) and not just FSU girls.....

LOL....I am a little picky.
The first trip in 1999 I fell in love with a girl.
I tried to bring her to Canada.Of coures the Canadian Gov. said no.
It was my own fault for trying to bring her over on a visitors visa.
Back then I did not know this was almost impossible.
There was no RMP for me to find information.

I have met others but they were not what I was looking for.
I have watched many find the girl they want and get married.

In the mean time I am having fun meeting all these people and making some good friends.
Now that I am living in Russia it is much more fun.
I know the right one is here,I just have to open my eyes..

So what happened to this girl? Are you still friends? Is there a possible future? it seems a real shame to develop a relationship and have feelings only to see it slide away because of the gov't and the try again only to possibly have the same thing happen again.

Tell me to nick off if you want but I find this interesting.

Sorry Mate, but your PM box is full. Clear your In Box and I'll gladly converse off the board.

Please be careful Oz Guy. Don't you at least want to finish the fight you are currently in before you pick a new one? I'm no longer a mod here. I'll not be as kind as GTR. And there is no need for you to leave the board yet again. Let's all just get along. I'll wait for you to either throw the first punch or the first hug. And I'll happily respond to either.

Hey OZ,

No its over.
I had lost contact with her after that, then I found her again, but she married a Russian man and did not want to speak with me.

After moving to Russia I seached for her again in case she was single, but she is still married and will not talk to me.

Funny thig I haven't ran into her yet,she lives in this area.

It was a compliment Cheb, I stumbled across some things of yours and thought yep that's Cheb and he's sticking it to a guy that can't compete.

If you come after me as well I'll just do as I am doing now, I'm not going to empty my PM box if anyone wants to converse with me offline they'll have to use the email link. Empty threats and veiled kindness are like water off a ducks back now so you can take the compliment as it was intended or you could start another fight with someone who really doesn't want one cause there is nothing to argue about.

Posted by: OzGuyLooking

That's a real pity Randy, I suppose the good thing that come out of that is you learned a lesson on what you can and cant do where the gov't is concerned.

Posted by: jbly

So what do you do in Russia to make a living. I have worked all over the world for US companies working abroad. I would love to work in Russia for a while. I always come back to my comfort zone and that is North America. Do you speak Russian?

I worked for 3 month in Dubai and never learned any of the Language, it was too easy where just about everyone knows some English.
