Hello Everyone...

There was a newspaper article written about us in a Ukrainian newspaper that is very widely circulated in the Ukraine. The article was published in the first week of June, and a copy of it just arrived to us in the mail a couple of days ago.

I scanned the pages of the article and am posting them here.

The owner of the newspaper somehow found our website, and wrote us an email, and then she offered to write a newspaper article in her paper about our website and about the story of how we met.

It is difficult to read the Russian text of the article in this scan, but.... Lena will try to soon type an English translation of the article and post it for you to read.

Nice.

I assume there is some thing nice in the story. My lady typical read something bad in Russian papers, and think I will do the same.

Thanks, Guys...

I'm happy that we have so many great people in this forum-- I think that all of us involved with this forum are really providing a wonderful and needed service to people by having this open discussion of Russian-Western issues. We are helping others by sharing our experiences.

As I mentioned, the editor of this Ukrainian paper found our information on the internet, and after corresponding with Lena a few times, wanted to write this article in her paper.

(Steve-- If we ever have a shiny stretch limo, then we'll make it the Russian Meeting Place Community car, and you all can come on over and ride in it

I am hoping that any press that we receive can help our website and our forum help people more and expand our Russian-Western community... Really helping others through creating a like-minded community and answering questions through this forum, as well as through bringing Russians and Westerners together, is the greatest reward for me and is the reason that I want to put time into our website.

When Lena can find the time, she will translate this article into English for everyone to read.

Congratulations! Your hard work is paying off! That kind of advertising (hopefully positive) will likely drive many to take a look at your web site and hopefully join in the discussions and post their profiles. I'll be looking forward to reading the translation of the article...looks long! As a relatively new member, I've been making frequent visits to the site to browse, view images and read all of the postings and I think I'm finally current...you're doing a fine job! It often takes some time to see the fruits of your labor.

They also posted a picture of Khashyar and Lena's new submarine on the cover. That baby looks really fast and deadly Khashyar. I'm ready to ski behind it at the first ever "Russian Meeting Place" picnic in California this summer. I'll bring the bratwurst!

Vyesna... When Lena has time, she will type the Russian language version of the article and post it. I would like to post the jpg files of the entire article pages (and we may do this on the website), but to be able to read the text we would need to post a very large-sized jpg photo file of the newspaper pages, which may not be practical and may take a long time to load on the screen. But, we may post the bigger jpg files anyway... Our forum has a 60kb limit on image files, and so I cannot post a clearer jpg file of the article here.

I am going to probably write a press release about our website and send it to different newspapers to try to receive some interest in having an article written about our website. I used to be a newspaper reporter, and so I believe I can write a pretty good press release. Maybe I will begin with the L.A. angle, and approach the L.A. Times first, or perhaps the local Hollywood paper.

I think that we can definitely interest some more Russian papers in writing artiles. I think we will send them the Ukrainian article, which should help create interest.

Does anyone have ideas as to what aspects or perspectives that the average English-speaking reader would be interested in regarding our website?? Maybe just something about the whole Russian-Western marriage phenomenon, and dispelling some of the myths regarding it. Or perhaps the story of why we created the website, etc... I think that we would need to focus on the Russian woman angle, because that is what readers and editors would be interested in.

I am working now to "market" our forum and website more, so that more people can become aware of it and join our forum discussions. Our site continues to grow every month, but I want to do what I actively can to expedite the process, and to continue to foster this growth...

Please let me know if you have ideas as to how and where we can market it.

(I just installed a "Top 100 Russian Website" section to our website, where other websites can post a banner that is ranked, in exchange for posting our banner ad for our website).

I think that word-of-mouth is a good way to let people know about our forum and website.... Please let me know if you have any ideas as to how we can get the word out more...
