Cyrillic Keyboard

As many here are aware communication is important to your wife/ girlfriend. It is easy to type cyrillic with your existing keyboard or use a dual keyboard. My wife brought one along when she arrived on her K1. You can do the same with your existing keyboard and writing in the cyrillic letters with a marker. I did a search and found nothing on this subject but apologize if I'm plowing the same ground.
"START"
"SETTINGS"
"CONTROL PANEL"
"KEYBOARD"
"LANGUAGE"
"ADD"
pick the language/s (russian, ukrainian)
"OK"
It may be a little different since I'm using windows 98.
This is what you'll get:
éöóêåíãøùçôûâàïðîëäÿ÷ñìèòü
You toggle between the languages in the tool bar or by left alt+shift or control+shift by clicking the appropriate box.
Sometimes my wife has to write letters in word because sometimes they are jumbled and unreadable when sent. It is best to save the letter if this happens and send thru a different means.

Yesterday I paid ˆ10 in the centre for a sticker kit, I guess this would cost little elsewhere.

Advice: Get your lady to pick up a sticker kit if she can in her homeland

=o)

This may be of interest to some,

http://www.cheaptickettorussia.com/ruklv.htm and apparantly you can buy cheap "Russian keyboard stickers" on ebay. Just checked and they are under $2 on ebay.

Nice one for that, would have cost me about ˆ5 i dont mind paying 10 as the place i bought it from is a Russian Information Centre and its losers like me that helps keeps it afloat!!!

You can also buy an English/Russian (cyrillic) keyboard. I used the stickers also but found that after a couple of months typing they start to wear out. I bought the Keyboard for about ˆ28 including delivery.

Here is another company that sells stickers Latkey.

They are in Ire Land but their stickers arrived in less than a week!

I have purchased a few sets of stickers from them. Someone on this forum recommended them to me. The stickers seem quite durable, they still look new and i've had them on my laptop since February 2004.

so they are, thats handy to know =o)

I agree that the stickers will wear out after a while...

Cyrillic/English keyboards really aren't that much. (Lena uses one at home).

We've worn two dual keyboard to the point where she was painting new letters on. It's nice to know that stickers are available, never thought of that one.

That reminds me -- time to put some new stickers on this keyboard. Guess I post too much...

I bought no-name stickers and they wore out quickly. Then I discovered Latkey who claim to print on the glue side of the stickers so that they won't wear out. I bought 6 sets of those (I have lots of computers....) and they work really well. The only problem is on one BENQ mini keyboard that is smaller than a laptop keyboard where the stickers are slightly bigger than the keytops.

Sorry I am too far away from you to help, apart from trying ebay, they seem to have that type of thing on most sites.

Latkey ships their stickers worldwide http://www.latkey.com/home.asp
I bought several sets so that I can put them on all my different computers. Just be sure that when you order the transparent stickers, you get a contrasting letter color. Very light colors don't work on white keys and very dark colors don't work on black keys.

When you stick them on, open up an application like Wordpad so that you can doublecheck the Cyrillic letter that you get when you press the key *BEFORE* you stick on the sticker.

I've just returned from Krivoy Rog,
bought 2 keyboards for £2.75 GBP! each!!!!!

Get yerself married, You might get one as a pressie!

will update asap.

I puchased two sets of stickers from eBay and so far they are great!

I would eventually like to get a keyboard maybe if I ever buy a desktop computer again. I could always use the keyboard for my laptop as well. Can anyone recommend a source for purchase from the States?

Hey everyone,
I see yous are chatting about keyboards and cyrillic letters.
I have been using one online for some time now and I find it works great for my needs. When I am done writing I just cut and past in my email and send.

Initially, I had used that same online keyboard.

You will find though, that it is much easier to just hit alt+shift to switch to russian fonts rather than having to go to an internet page, click the keys with your mouse, and then have to copy and paste
