Teaching English, and Volunteer

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey all,

My name is Brian and I am a 25 year old college student from Baltimore, Maryland in the states. I plan on moving to Russia, to teach english and to volunteer. I am not going through an organization, and instead am travelling by myself. I hope to teach English in the city of Izhevsk, and do some volunteer work at the city or other places.

I am writing this thread in a hope that someone can provide me with the information or contacts that I will require. I hope to find a teaching position, (btw I am tefl certified) that is either a paid position (not much, just enough to live), or that provides room and board for my services.

If anyone knows any contacts in Izhevsk, or in Russia or its surrounding countries that use the Russian language that could set me up with a job, a teaching position or a volunteer experience, I would be most appreciative.

Any advice on the matter would also be a great help,
Thanks alot to anyone who responds!

PS - You can also reach me at my email address kievakula@hotmail.com

If you don't mind teaming up with an evangelical Christian pastor, Sergey Mochalov is a great man to know. He runs a Christian church in that area, and could possibly be of great help. Here is a pic of he and his family having Bible study at home.

Ain't no fancy schmancy churches in Siberia! Russia has some of the most devout Christians on the planet. It kind of puts all the big American steeples to shame.

PS: PM me and I'll give you his contact information. I don't want to put it out there on the web.

OK, OK,...one more thought. Try teaming up with these people:

They specialize in ESL teachers in Izhevsk.

Best of luck to you Brian! Please write travel reports for all of us here.

PS: Don't forget to run over to Perm while you're there.
