Whazzup people?

The forum is so quiet,

"you could hear a cockroach fahrt!"

Maybe we need to party.

Posted by: Pin Boy

i was thinking the same thing, about the cockroach farting that is...

eerily quiet 'round here.....

I have been busy, busy, busy.....

I am trying to refinance some property to try to acquire another property.

I have been busy with that, shopping and kids.

Sometimes too busy... and I still have to attend to my mother because of her health problems.

Like Searcher I also have been preoccupied with other things on my mind.
Mainly spending time with the wife but still dealing with Immigration

I sent in all our paperwork for her to get green card going on almost 3 months ago and still have yet to receive a receipt from them.
Its frustrating because my wife wants to travel back to Moscow soon and also get a job.
She is very bored here.
She also wants to drive legally
Cant get a license or insurance until she gets paperwork from INS.
Its a vicious circle
She has a Ukrainian friend here now who just arrived here one month earlier and already has a greencard, drivers license, permission to travel.
It upsets my wife very much so i have been dealing with this stuff.
I do know they cashed my checks already.
We went to INS last week , took half a day off for this so they can tell me ( were real behind right now due to low staffing but your paperwork is in the system and you should get a receipt notice very soon ) Ya right.
Anyway thats what I am dealing with right now among other personal issues.

VERY busy at work. ....Plus planning for a trip to Kiev at the end of the month, looking for a new apartment (our lease is up at the end of June), gathering immigration documents and getting ready for an eventual move to the US (planned for December--but we also need to schedule in a trip to Tbilisi for the visa interview), being 5 months pregnant....But I do manage to check in for a few minutes each day

Or maybe it's the beautiful spring weather that has lured everyone away from their computers

Hmmm...Why doesn't that surprise me?

Well, I am sorry to hear about your troubles with INS, Jerico. Tell your wife to hang in there--once it's over it will have been well worth the wait. I hope

Thanks Jill,
She is hanging in there but it is a frustrating experience for both of us.

Baltimore is a good alternative place...real estate is sky high almost everywhere now, but i'd think Balt. metro is not as steep as NoVA. it's close to DC, Philly, NY, Boston, beaches...things to do, places to go...i always thought Balt would be an okay place to live.

good luck Khashyar!

Hi

As a user of this forum for sometime and others before that, it happens that many aspects already are covered. So when somebody ask a question, concerning Russia / relationship ets. people don't answer except, please look at tead xxxx.

Secondly, it really only major events in Russia/FSU people want to debate. Thats something there is rather easily to understand after posting varios treads.

Thirdly, we are some 'grand' old posters around here, which proberly make it difficult for some newcomers to enter this forum, but some so.

So in time, you get a forum there get into a hibernation phase(s) and with the spring/pre-summer I think its one now.

Baltimore?!?!! Why, that's the STD capital of the USA.

No doubt about it Lester... its been very quiet!

But in May... in St. Louis... in the American midwest for that matter... IT DOESN'T GET MUCH MORE BEAUTIFUL!

And right now... its a JOY to be outside doing yardwork!

Posted by: lester

Yep, May is certainly a busy time for all!

Been doin' a bit of research for a possible visit
to Krivoy Rog later this year myself.

Hope i'm looking at the correct one,
there appears to be two towns with this
same name!

Agreed pb,
the forum seems to have lost something
these past few weeks.

I know everyone is busy, but it just don't seem the
same somehow.

Hopefully, things will get better!
Anyways, back to me knitting now

Posted by: Jutman

It exam time..

and thats also rather hard for the teacher as well.

But it seems that many of the events in Russia people don't want to comment.

I don't know exactly--probably in late summer--maybe August? We hope to submit our documents to the Yerevan Embassy next week. They will then send everything to the Tbilisi Embassy who will assign an interview date. But I found out recently that there are no flights from Yerevan to Tbilisi, so we are looking into transportation options

Hi Guys... (and Ladies)....

I arrived back from Baltimore yesterday afternoon....

I have a lot to write about regarding Baltimore, and a probably relocation for Lena and me, but I will write that in a different thread in the marriage section.

Regarding why the forum might be slower during the summer months.

Since we began the RMP forum in January 2003, the summer months have always been less active, and the non-summer months have been significantly more active.

Lena and I think this is for a few reasons:

1) People tend to travel more in the summer, and so they have less time to spend in the forum.

2) If a person has been communicating with their significant other during the winter months by email, they often seek support and companionship in the forum. Most people travel to see their significant others during the summer, and so they have less need to communicate in the forum.

3) During the summer, people often like to spend time outside, and not inside on a computer During the wintertime, especially in areas with cold weather and snow, people tend to spend more time in front of a computer.

4) During the Fall through Spring, students find the RMP website during their internet searches for school projects.

5) During the summer, many Russians in Russia traditionally spend their time outdoors, traveling, and in the countryside.

We still have some interesting thoughts and discussions during the summer months, but things will significantly pick up beginning in the fall, once everyone is back from their trips, and once cold weather brings them back inside and to their computers.

But, those of us who are here can talk and communicate and maintain our friendships.

yes, they are too close to each other for flights... there is train from there also. Or you can come by car. I think train is easier though especially in your condition... And august going to be too hot also for travel :-/
