spouse visa question

I am getting married in the summer to my Russian fiancée and am looking for some visa advice.

I currently earn around £14000 inc overtime and she is a qualified translator and foreign languages teacher. She currently works as a translator for a us company and also has teaching experience at the local languages university in her town. She also has a 4 year old son from her previous marriage. We have applied jointly to my local council for a flat or house as they accepted the application due to our impending marriage. I currently live with my parents.

Do you see any problems in us obtaining a spouse visa after our marriage?

Please excuse all my questions but we both are very nervous and want to have everything covered in our application.

Thanks

Andrew

You asked this in the wrong topic. The UK section is a bit further down the page.

First of all, I have to say that with the national poverty level considered to be 20k, you may run into problems. You really should spend some time on the Internet reading the Home Office rules on this.

One thing that I do know is that if you marry in Russia, then she will be able to work and earn an income immediately upon entering the UK. Quite frankly, she may be able to get a job earning more than you, given that her English is already good enough to work as a translator.

Thanks for your help and sorry for posting in the wrong section however how can they come to that figure when it is the minority in Scotland who earn that much ? Most jobs in my area are minimum wage and anyway my parents will support us if we need it.

I fully understand that she will earn well above what I do and have told her so although I plan to move to another job in the near future paying around £20000 inc overtime.

My concern is if I need an employers letter then is it not better for me to have a letter stating am permanent and been there for a few years rather than new employee letter.

Hi i am doing same as you now but i marry in Prague in May.I am at present getting documents together, phone bills, emails atc as proof of contact.Dp you have photo,s.You should get a letter from your employer and six months bank statements. That are more interested to see regular money going into your account.Dont get too worried about what you earn. Also copy of your tenency agreement and or council tax bill.Along with copy of your passpost.Proof of contact is very inportant.Best of luck.
