Your Submissions: Online Quiz to test your knowledge about Russia and Russian culture

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Khashyar

Hi Everyone,

I would like to create an online "Russia Quiz," that tests visitor's knowledge about Russia and Russian culture.

I think that it would be a fun quiz to test a person's knowledge of Russia....

The way that I envision the quiz, you will be given a Question, you can choose between 4 or 5 answers, and then the answer will be given to you at the end, along with an interesting fact about the Topic/ Question.

The quiz could be 10 to 20 questions long, and then at the end, you will be given your Russian cultural knowledge score.

To help me with creating this quiz, I would appreciate if you could help me assemble a list of questions, answers, and one to two sentence interesting fact per question.

It would be wonderful if you would just post it in this thread.

When I create the quiz, I will delete this thread so that no one will have the answers.

I think that this quiz can be an interesting diversion, and will help educate the test-taker about Russia.

Here is the example of the format to submit your Russia Questions:

Quote:

Question: What is the Capital of Russia?

Answer: Moscow

Interesting Fact: Russia is one of the most expensive cities to live in the world, with a one night stay in a hotel often topping prices of the best hotels in the West.

****

True or False: Russian President Vladimir Putin is dating a former Miss Russia and Miss Universe.

Answer: True.

Interesting Fact: President Putin is currently dating for Miss Russia and Miss Universe, Oksana Fyodorova, who was a police lieutenant from St. Petersburg. She won the Miss Universe Contest in 2002. She was stripped of her Miss Universe crown 4 months later for refusing to fulfill her duties as the beauty pagent winner.

Thank you for submitting your questions for the quiz....

What??? Ok, ok I got it. It is a joke, right?
I, probably, should disqualify myself from the contest. I'll think about the questions, though..

Inlove,

I think that people find it interesting to also answer some current event questions, or some "entertainment" questions.....

We can't be academic and PC all the time.... Right?

People enjoy those types of "in the news" questions too.

Khash, this is no contest, if you are giving all the answers away. You should post the question, and make somebody else answer.. IMHO..

Hi Inlove...

By posting all of the Q's and A's, I am trying to give examples of how others can submit their own Questions and Answers.

Actually, the quiz itself will not be in the forum, but in a seperate program that I am going to write after I have gathered perhaps 200 Questions and Answers... (Then I will delete this thread)...

Actually, Stalin killed millions of Russians, Hitler only killed hundreds of thousands. Stalin killed, in total over twice as many Russians, his own people, than Hitler killed total, all races and cultures together. He was and still is the #1 worse leader when it came to genocide than any other leader in history. But, he was deeply loved and even though he killed millions of his own people, nearly every one in Russia, and some surrounding countries cried, literally, the day he died.

Jill- I would appreciate an approximate pronouncer of the surname of Chikatilo. I can get a lot of mileage out of this!

Khashyar, et. seq., I find this very informative, I'm picking up a lot of little facts I never came across.

I shudder to think what KIND of mileage, but...Chik-a-TILL-o.
He's a very interesting character. Evidently when he was a child, his mother used to tell him that he once had an older brother who got eaten by villagers during the Ukrainian famine. They say this is why he had a penchant for canabilism...
