Thanks Khashyar and Lena for sharing this with us!
I copied it and sent it to my Tanya as a heads up as what to expect. We've discussed this and she knows it's going to be a big change. Of course we aren't going to live with all the movie stars like you folks.
But maybe the Northern Lights will make upfor that!

Is there a Russian version for non-philologically inclined spouses?

Thanks for the feedback, Jill and Mike.
Alaska sounds beautiful and like a wonderful place.... (I used to live in the mountains of Colorado).
Hi Jill.... I don't think that Lena has translated that article into Russian, but please post your suggestion in the Russian language forum (I think that you probably have learned to write in Russian by now, right? )
I believe that Lena said that she does have some resources for Russian women moving to the U.S.... I believe that they may be posted in the Russian language forum.
(It makes Lena and I both feel good when others find articles and other information on the website helpful.)

LOL, Jill she reads english just fine. Speaking is harder but she does that pretty good. Hopefully in a month or so she will be here and then she'll really get better. ( maybe I'll be better too!)
Khashyar, if you want to see a few pics of Ak, Look Here!

Great photos, Mike...
I would love to go camping in Alaska in the next few years.
(I think that Jill was referring to her husband )

Whoops! Sorry Jill, I thought you were talking about Tanya's english.. Boy do I have tomato on my face...
Khashyar, If you ever wander north make sure to let us know. I'll put the WELCOME mat out! Do it in the winter and I'll take you guys to the cabin for sledding. ( Snowmobiles)
Life doesn't get much better than that!

Yes, I meant my husband's English (or lack thereof)--I know Tanya speaks just fine

yes, i did enjoy the article and these are the first person experiences i would like to read more of...
i think that some of the hollywood part should be deleted...i know that is your neighborhood and in many ways it is probably very exciting to live there and this is the only part of America Lena really knows, but my concern is that some, SOME, RW who read this and only know America as hollywood MAY think that wherever they go in America they will be on hollywood's front steps....
something i would like to see on this forum, and i've stated this frustration before, is an account by the men who have brought women here and married, or not married....i would love to read about the three month K1 period, what happened in those months, was there any consternation about getting married, did anyone not get married and the woman returned to her native country, how did the woman react to new people, what was the hardest part, what was the hardest part, surprising part, most enjoyable part, etc........
seems as if the men on the forum who do marry do not right much about it or seem to drop off the forum completely (with understanable reason, but nonetheless frustrating)
khashyar, would love to hear more of your perspective just as Lena has retold...how about it?
thanks,
pin boy

Hi Pin Boy,
Lena included descriptions of "Hollywood", CA because that is the first place in the U.S. that she experienced.
Actually, I have written many posts in the forum about my experience with Lena in the first year of our marriage. You can find them by looking in the "Stage 3" marriage forum section, as well as searching for my posts under my name.
But, yes, I will certainly write some more articles and information regarding Lena and my experience, as well as what I noticed with some of our Russian-Western couple friends here.
There is so much information in the forum in past posts that I think that a person could spend many weeks (and even months) reading them and still not absorb everything that has been written here.
I have also been working on a series of essays regarding Russian-Western relationships that I hope to either post or publish in the future.
Thank you, Pin Boy, for sharing your thoughts and experiences in the forum.
I think that some men, when they are married, need the forum less, and so they focus on their family life.
HOWEVER, many of the Russian women who write in the Russian language forum constantly are writing about their experiences with marriage and living in a new country. (Perhaps you can take some of those messages and translate them through Russian-English "Prompt" software? )

Khashyar, Here's an excerpt from Tanyas letter to me about Lenas
article.
"And for Lena's letters.
I've read her letters, but I need re-read again, because there are
some unundestandble words, and besides Vanya interfered me to pay all
my attention to read. It is interesting what write this young lady,
but there are many piople, there are many fates, there are many lifes.
Anyway thank you so much:it is really support for me. And don't worry
about me: if I live after everything heppan with me, I will have
wonderfull life. Besides, the God sent me a "special courier" to help
me, and to make marvellous my life and "special courier's" life!!!
I told you, I just feel, that I am not here already, but not there
yet. Sure I am exciting about my life in Amarica, but I know, that you will be by my side always. "
I explained that since you are in Hollywood things will be different for us but that there will be many similar situations for her. It will give her a 'heads up' ahead of time.
Please tell Lena THANKS from both of us!

You're welcome, Mike....
I will show Lena your message when she comes home....
So, it's understandable that there would be words in Lena's essay that Tanya might not understand....
Tell her that there are many Russian women who are discussing Western adjustment issues (in the Russian language) in the RMP Russian language forum, and she is welcome to register and join in and ask any questions that she would like....
