In Russian (or more accurately 'Orthodox' - the Greeks are the same) culture the wedding ring is worn on the third finger of the right hand.

Aye thats what culture dictates but in a Irish/Russian wedding there are two cultures.

My lass is going for the left hand.

Did others?

NEWS FLASH>>>
A Leprechuan gives up a part of his gold treasure...

Good for you! I explained the western way to my wife as I placed it on her left hand. She wore the ring on her right hand once but I told her that it was the western way and I'm a western man. Now it stays on her left hand! She wasvery concerned about this for the ZAGS ceremony but after asking they said it didn't matter which hand the ring was placed on.
Good Luck retrieving your gold treasure!

Dont worry, ill be keeping a watchful eye over my treasure.

Once I dont have to pay extra to put it on her left hand ill be happy wherever it goes .

;o)

Her favorite phrase of mine is "No Big Deal". She loves to hear that when we hit a stumbleing block with the cultural differences.
Sometimes we go her way sometimes mine , until I invoke "Rule #1" ( Mike is always right) Rule #2 is to refer to Rule # 1. The she invoked a new one! Rule #3....... Tanya is right also...

Nope!

We use the right hand (both of us).

For us, the answer is...... both!

My wife's initial engagement ring was a gold band with some small diamonds and silver inlay. She wore this ring on her right hand before we were married (and she was still in Russia). I liked the idea that RM who saw the ring would think that she was married.

Now that we are married, both my wife and I wear simple gold bands that we purchased in Russia. We wear them on our left hand. Unless my wife is wearing some jewlery from a set (necklace, earings, ring), she usually wears the gold engagement ring on her right hand.

While my wife is in Russia she will wear her ring on the right hand. When she comes here, she will switch to the left, we have discussed this. She wants me to wear my ring on the right hand when I visit, I have no problem with this.

When I presented my fiancee with her engagement ring it went directly from the box to her right hand.
I explained the western traditions and she appreciated that but that ring stays proudly on her right hand. End of discussion!
When it comes time for the wedding ring though we will be in America and then it will be placed on her left hand.

Hi, not at that stage yet, but for me there's really no question; if her tradition is that the ring goes on her right hand, that's where it 'should' be; it's her ring, and her hand - and I wouldn't want to be imposing my cultural mores on someone at such an important time.

I know that for me, as a man, my cultural traditions in this case would be far less significant to me; what we were doing would be more important than how we were doing it, and I'd want the woman's experience to be as good/complete for her as it could be.

Of course, if the woman want's to use the left hand, perhaps in a symbolic way for how she feels about her new husband, that could be a nice gesture. But I think I'd want her to use her right hand.

For those who wear rings -- yes.

This is what my husband and I had originally planned to do--we would wear them on our right hands in the FSU and then switch to left hands when we move to the US.

But I actually don't think we'll ever switch hands. Our rings haven't come off for almost the last two years--it would be strange to switch fingers now. Just really hard to get used to--and, really, what difference does it make? So I guess it's right hands for us
