Hi All!

I know this is probably not a shared sentiment with many of you, but I would like to thank the scammer that recently tried to get me. I was doing the online dating thing, trying to find women locally when an attractive Russian women expressed an interest. To be honest I had not though of looking outside my home state let alone halfway across the world. But I figured all I have to lose is some emails so I wrote her back.

It was not till we had exchanged introductions that I decided to do a little reading up on Russian culture. In my reading I learned that there are many scammers out there and one must be careful. But I also realized that I might be missing out on a good thing. The more I read the more I like the idea of seriously corresponding with someone from the FSU.

I would also mention that there were a few things that tipped me off right away about this woman so I already had some suspicion, love may be blind, but it is not stupid!!! By the third email I was convinced. She told me how she longed to hear my voice (after 3 emails?) but since she didn't have a phone because they were so expensive, yadda,yadda,yadda. From what I had read this is something a nice Russian girl would not mention, or would overcome by using a friends phone. While she never asked me for money directly, I broke off contact.

The reason I owe her a thank you is beacuse it is because of my suspicions that I found this website. Thank You Lena and Khashyar for your efforts here. I am already planning a trip to the FSU even if I don't have someone special to visit. Got to go for now but wanted to say hi to all members and I hope to get to know you better as I continue on my new path.

There is a person whom I know as Galya who was my first contact with Russian women. Tried to pull the classic "Visa Scam" on me in a three week time frame.

Thanks to her, my wife and I will soon be married for 10 months...

There is enough information about how to wisely communicate with someone from Russia that you should have the knowledge that you need to be careful and make a wise choice.

I will throw in my welcome as well! Our situation is similar because a scammer claiming to be from Russian is what started my search for a Slavic woman. Like you, I researched and found I may have been searching in the wrong place. From what I have read it is pretty common. The scammers don't know what kind of favor they are doing.
