This is straight out of "I should have figured that out before now"

While working on a web site for a customer I was asked about using a version of log files to track visitors as opposed to cookies.
The thought was many users block cookies etc.

What this company is doing is logging what you look at AFTER you log in. A non buying visitor is of no interest to them.
They store this data and at a later date, send you things to look at that you've already seen before. Thus increasing the chances that you will buy it...

HMMMM Where have I seen something like this before???

Of course, the complete surprise when I get a letter from some lady that I had only looked at a few days ago on an agency site!
The letters are always generic and don't address your profile at all but eventually it sinks in. They didn't actually write you at all or worse, they thank you for writing them when you didn't.

So now the test of a couple of agencies I belong to...
Login and then start looking at photos. Noting the profile names or ids. Six each site ought to do it....

Then close out the browser and go in as a visitor and look at some more photos and do the same notes...

Over the last three days I received three letters from each agency that EXACTLY matched my notes while I was logged in... To be fair, they also had two letters from ladies I hadn't looked at.

Soooo, from now on I'll do my looking without logging in and jot down the ids. Then log in if I intend to write.
