I read that Wal Mart got busted for having illegal cleaning crew members from Russia and other Eastern European countries, they contract out these janitorial jobs out,the weird thing is,I took on a part time night job at a store here and our cleaning crew is from you guessed it Russia, there are 3 of them,2 are from Uzbekistan and the other one is from Central Russia, they are very intelligent and friendly, they work 6 days a week overnight.
My question is what kind of visa do they have? They have been here for a year. I am just curious as to how they got here, once every blue moon their boss I guess will come in to check things out, there are usually 2 of them,a man and a woman, the woman is really tall and is always well dressed,i'm just curioius why Wal Mart got busted when obviously other retailers are doing the same thing maybe, unless the contractor provides work visas for these workers. I thought it was a very interesting article,it was on yahoo news.

Most often they go to US by tourist visa - either bribe or just have some bases to geth tourist visa. There are many illegal ways when have got some money. Then they stay in US without visa and find not-qualificative jobs. They mostly have higher educaion yes, not always though. I knw some of those people. Some are lucky and got good jobs after some years of difficult life and get official status after some time also.
But most don't find their pace in life in US also.

That's very interesting. I guess it is true if you have money it speaks in loud volumes! They seem like good people,it's too bad companies abuse them and don't pay out overtime, injury pay when they should. That's why WalMart is getting such a bad reputation, all they care about is the mighty $.

Didn't Walmart get in trouble for the same thing last year except the illigeals aliens here from Mexico. I think it is not a problem for them to hire foriegn workers. It is a problem for any company to hire workers with out the proper documentation.

Walmart is just the politically correct whipping boy these days. The number of illegal aliens employed as "sub-contractors" by Walmart is only a small percentage of those currently cleaning hotel rooms across the US.

It's an economic problem across the country. In the US, unemployment is still near record low numbers. Those who are unemployed will not take a job as a cleaner (or even in the restaurant business, as a farm worker, in retail sales, shall I go on?).

Should all illegal aliens be sent home? Ideally, yes. They are breaking the laws of the US by being here. But are Americans ready to pay $12/hr+ to have toilets cleaned, floors waxed, and beds made? Are you ready to pay double what you currently pay for those domestic, organically grown veggies? Are you ready to pay double for your hotel accommodations, the CD you bought at Walmart (and other retailers, for they also have illegal aliens on the payroll, directly or indirectly)?

My guess is no, and this is why the problem remains as it is now.

Conner is right on, You took the words right out of my mouth Conner. The problem is that the welfare state excessively increases the costs of labor and that is, of course, reflected in the prices. Because people don't want to pay too much businesses are forced to cut corners and hire illegal Mexicans or Eastern Europeans. Americans don't want such jobs because the welfare state has spoiled people while M's and EE's want such jobs because ... it's better than not having a job.

I know the situation in Poland well, and because unemployment remains at 20 % (national average, many rural and small town areas are well above that !) people (from young to over middle age) are willing to go to Britain and the States and work illegaly.
